Netflix is testing pop-out floating video player on desktop
Video on demand service Netflix introduced new additions like weekly subscription plans, high-quality audio for TV viewers and more. Now, the company has been spotted testing a new pop-out floating player for desktop that will allow users to stream videos in a picture-in-picture mode on their computer. The pop-up player will hover as a small floating box above other windows and users can simply click the small icon on the bottom to activate it. It is resizable and can be positioned wherever the user likes it to be, but subtitles don't work with this feature as of now. The picture-in-picture mode is available on iOS and Android and Netflix could easily integrate the feature, but the company instead is choosing to develop its own feature in part likely for copyright protection. As of now, only a few users were able to use this feature in desktop as it is still under internal testing and Netflix is expected to make this feature available to all users. Source
