The tablet market continues to suffer as the global shipments in Q4 2019 dropped to 43.5 million units, marking a decline of 0.6% compared to Q4 last year. Apple continues to lead the market with its highly successful iPad series with Samsung, HUAWEI, Amazon.com and Lenovo taking the next 4 spots in global shipments and market share. At second position, even though it saw a decline of 7.4% YoY, Samsung saw a comeback to the spot with 7 million units sold. Although the Tab S product lineup saw a growth during this quarter, it could not offset the overall decline. Shipping 4 million units, HUAWEI took up the third spot in Q4 2019, calculating a YoY decline of 2.8%. Though the company saw record growth in the Asia/Chine market, the ban from USA is still affecting the company, causing its global shipments to fall. OnePlus joins Wireless Power Consortium, OnePlus 8 series could support Qi wireless charging

OnePlus is the latest company to join Wireless Power Consortium, a group of companies for developing and promoting the Qi wireless charging standard. This indicates that future OnePlus will have Qi wireless charging, and this should be the OnePlus 8 series expected to launch in mid-2020. OnePlus is now listed on the WPC’s member list, however, it is not clear when they joined. Joining the consortium is a requirement for creating devices that use Qi wireless charging. OnePlus' current or past phones only had support for wired fast charging with the latest fast charging tech being Warp Charge 30T, and the company even denied wireless charging during the OnePlus 7 launch. “OnePlus charging is one of the best. Wireless charging is far inferior,” said the company's CEO Pete Lau last year. OnePlus recently introduced Quad HD+ OLED ‘Fluid Display’ with a refresh rate of 120Hz, 240Hz touch sampling rate, 10-bit HDR support, and is expected to be used in the OnePlus 8 Pro. Source

Apple tops with 20% share, up 7.9% YoY in Q4 2019, thanks to strong performance in the holiday quarter, similar to 2018. Samsung grabbed 18.8% share and saw 1.2% YoY decline, and HUAWEI grabbed the third spot with 15.2%. Xiaomi grabbed 8.9% share which is a 31.1% increase YoY with strong sales of Redmi 8/Note 8 series in the Indian market, and OPPO saw 4.2% increase with 8.3% market share. Google Phone to get Call Recording feature reveals App teardown

Call recording is a popular feature that has been missing natively in Googles Phone app for many years now. Many other manufacturers have included this feature in their custom phone app and it looks like Google might follow suit as the feature was spotted in an APK teardown. Almost every manufacturer from Samsung, OnePlus, Huawei, etc. have had an in-built call recorder in their respective phone apps for quite a while now. Phones that ran stock android with the Google Phone app as the dealer had always had this feature missing, relying on third party apps to do so. However, in the new Google Phone App v44, an APK teardown has revealed the presence of the feature and some have managed to activate the feature in a few phone like the Pixel 4 and OnePlus 7 Pro. When the feature is first activated, the following message will appear: “When using the call recording feature, you are responsible for complying with applicable laws related to the recording of calls. LG G8X ThinQ Review: Is the phone with Dual Screen worth it?

After announcing the G8X ThinQ back in September 2019 at the IFA, the South Korean company has launched the flagship device in the Indian market in Aurora Black color at Rs. 49,999 bundled with LG Dual Screen accessory. While we loved the LG V40 ThinQ, our expectation were sky-high for this device considering its dual display feature. In fact, the G8X has accomplished what LG has been trying to do for years — dual displays, for example V10 and V20.  Does this device from LG met our expectations? How useful were the secondary display? Do read it out below. Why should you buy it? Military-grade build quality that LG has mastered over the years Build quality is the first thing I like about LG smartphones. Over the years, the company has mastered the design and build quality, no matter the price range. Talking about the design, it looks exactly like G8 with glass sandwich design and metal rim on sides. The rear side of the device holds a curve towards the edges. [gallery link="file" columns="2" size="medium" ids="303321,303320,301436,303325"] The device offers a great in-hand feel, thanks to the premium glass build. Google Translate will soon offer live transcription on Android

During a demonstration of Artificial Intelligence demos at its San Francisco office, Google showed a prototype feature that is in development for Google Translate called Live Transcription. The feature, if it finally arrives to the public, will allow users to speak in one language and transcribe it to another language in real time on Google Translate. The feature will require an Internet connection as the computing will be done on Google servers and not on device. This is largely due to the fact that real time multilingual transcribing is more complicated than regular translation from one language to another. Hence, this makes the current models of AI on-device learning models incapable of such a feature. At the demonstration Google explained that the transcription feature is constantly evaluating whole sentences recording via the device microphone.  After that, it will decide where to add punctuation and make whole host of corrective measures like contextual word correction, fixing for accents and dialects. The feature currently cannot work with audio files and requires live audio input from the microphone but Google may change that when they finally roll out the feature. Google also expects the AI models for the feature to vastly improve with time goes ...
