Google is ending automatic syncing between Google Photos and Google Drive
Google currently offers automatic syncing between Drive and Google Photos, which will change from July 10th, after which, when you upload or delete photos in Google Drive or Google Photos, changes won’t reflect in the other service, so users will need to manually download items from Photos and upload them to Drive. This comes after feedback from users who say that they were confused by the connection between Photos and Drive. These changes will let you easily choose where photos and videos are stored across products, says the company. On photos.google.com site, a new feature called "Upload from Drive," lets you manually choose photos and videos from Drive, including "Shared with Me" items, to import into Photos. Once copied, these items are not connected between the two products. Since photos and videos will no longer sync across both products, items copied between Google Drive and Google Photos in Original Quality will count towards your storage. You’ll still be able to use Backup and Sync on Windows or macOS to upload to both services in High Quality or Original Quality Your existing photos and videos will stay in Google Drive and Google Photos Source
