Honor 8 won’t get Android 8.0 Oreo update, Honor 6X Oreo update under evaluation

Huawei's online brand Honor has confirmed that Honor 8 which was launched back in October 2016 won't be getting the Android 8.0 Oreo update. The company confirmed the news on Twitter in a response to the user's query. On the other hand, it has also clarified that the Android 8.0 update with latest EMUI 8.0 is under evaluation for the Honor 6X.  [HTML1] The company earlier confirmed that it will be rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo for the Honor 8 Pro, Honor 9i, Honor 7X and Honor 8 Lite including the P10, Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro. Among the list of phones that will get the Oreo update, Honor 8 Pro and Huawei Mate 9, for now, are confirmed to get Google’s Project Treble along with the Oreo update. [HTML2] The Twitter response is vague and only offers a typical reply for the Honor 6X update query with no mention of time frame. As for Honor 8, the company said that Oreo update won't be shipped due to the hardware and software limitations. The EMIUI 8.0 for compatible devices brings AI-powered Real-Time Scene and Object Recognition, Smart Tips, and AI Accelerated Translator.
