Xiaomi starts crowdfunding for Mi Smart LED Desk Lamp 1S in India for Rs. 1999

Xiaomi has been introducing smart home products in India through crowdfunding lately like Mi Smart Bedside Lamp 2, LED Smart Bulb and more. Similarly, Xiaomi has just started crowdfunding for the all-new Mi Smart LED Desk Lamp 1S in India and this is the successor to the LED Desk Lamp launched earlier this year. Mi Smart LED Desk Lamp 1S sports an all-metal casing and foldable design with a 135-degree adjustable angle. It features knob controls on the base where users can perform various actions like adjusting brightness, turn on/off, adjust color temperature, and turn on focus mode. It comes with 4 dedicated modes like Reading mode, Computer mode, Child mode, and Focus mode. Users can control the different modes present in this Desk Lamp using Mi Home App and use voice control through Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. Pricing and Availability The Mi Smart LED Desk Lamp 1S is available for crowdfunding through mi.com at Rs. 1999 (the original price is Rs. 2499) with a funding goal of  1000 units, and will start shipping from 16th December 2019, on successful completion of the crowdfunding.

Apple supplier Salcomp buys defunct Nokia Chennai Plant, to invest $300 million in five years

It has been over 5 years since Nokia's Sriperumbudur plant shut down production due to a tax dispute. Now, Finnish based firm Salcomp, manufacturer of chargers/adapters for mobile phones and other electronics for companies like Apple, has bought the defunct plant for about Rs. 215 crores. Salcomp plans to begin operations at the plant by March next year, and ramp up exports from there to about $2 billion by investing $300 million over the next five years. Salcomp already operates two units in the Sriperumbudur SEZ zone having close to 7000 employees with the new factory said to add over 10000 jobs. Apple's components is about 60% in the 1.1 million sq ft plant — and the balance would be for others including Foxconn, Xiaomi, Vivo and OPPO, according to ET report. These decisions add to the larger strategy of Apple in expanding production in India for the local and global markets. Google Shopping to integrate Translate and Google My Business early next year for Indian users

Google has introduced new integrations for the Google Shopping experience for Indian users, namely Google My Business and Google Translate integration. These changes are aimed at making Google Shopping more accessible for new small to medium businesses and non English speaking Indian users. With a majority of shopping in India still happening offline, Google aims to change that by make it easier for local retailer to create an online store through Google My Business. Retailers will be able to connect with the millions of shoppers searching for their products online by posting photos of their in-store products, which Google will automatically connect as product listings on Search and in the Google Shopping tab. Google is also integrating Translate into their Shopping tab as well as the Shopping home page for Indian languages. Google claims that almost 500 million non-English-speaking users will come online and that the Google Translate integration will enable them to more easily find products in their own language. Translation will also be taken care of from the merchants side seamlessly. Facebook Viewpoint market research app pays users to answer surveys

Facebook is getting into the market research space with a new app called Facebook Viewpoints. The app will reward people for participating in surveys, tasks and research. Facebook claims the data collected from these methods will be used to improve products like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Portal and Oculus, and to benefit the broader community. Google has a similar market research app called Google Opinion Rewards that gives users Google Play credit for Android and via Paypal for iOS users by answering survey questions. The app was first launched years ago with Google releasing it in India in 2018. Now, Facebook has decided to launch their version of a market research app called Viewpoints. Users will be required to create a Facebook Viewpoint account, after which they will be invited to join programs through which they can earn points. Users will be informed of what information will be collected, how it will be used and how many points will the user earn from that particular study. HUAWEI Nova 6E with quad rear cameras, punch-hole display surfaces

After announcing the upcoming launch of the HUAWEI Nova 6 5G to be held on December 5th, HUAWEI is set to launch another version from the Nova 6 series, called Nova 6 SE. Render image of the phone has surfaced showing its design differences from the standard Nova 6 5G. The render shows the primary differences between the SE and the standard version. Notably, the punch hole camera in the front is a single one, compared to the dual punch hole design in the Nova 5G variant. The back of the phone also shows differences in its camera array. There is a square camera bump with a flash below it. The cameras are rumoured to be the upcoming Sony's IMX686 60-megapixel sensor, along with 16 megapixel, 2-megapixel and another 2-megapixel sensors.
