Intel patent hints at a foldable smartphone that unfolds into tablet

Samsung, Huawei, LG are said to be working on foldable smartphones which are slated to release some time this year. Apart from these mainstream OEM's, companies like Qualcomm, Microsoft, IBM, and Intel are also said to be working on foldable devices. In-line with the reports, Intel's new patent hints at what the company is working.  Back in 2017, WIPO has published a patent from Intel Corporation for an 'Electronic device with foldable display panels'. The patent shows various design images and a very brief description of the product. This new Intel device unfolds into a big tablet, consisting of three display areas. A stylus pen will make it convenient to operate this foldable device. Meaning, you will have a dual-screen smartphone at your disposal. The interface will probably be adjusted accordingly. Intel has so far limited itself to prototypes with two displays, so at this moment, it does not seem likely that this foldable smartphone/tablet will hit the market anytime soon, but it does show that companies like Intel are also investing in the foldable future. When you press it, WhatsApp presents the video in Picture in Picture mode. It also has the ability to switch the chat without closing the PiP. Google Android Q might block background clipboard reads, bring support for downgrading apps, new fonts, icon shapes and more

It is well known that Android can read your clipboard even if you don't grant them runtime permission to do so. The reason why Android apps need to read the clipboard is that they can’t accept any text from the clipboard without it, meaning you can’t paste any text that you’ve copied. However, Google might be planning on changing this with Android Q.  New permission has been added which will limit what apps can read the clipboard in the background. The protection level of this permission is “signature,” meaning only apps signed by the OEM can be granted this permission. Reverting back to older version of apps needed root and Google doesn't support it traditionally as it breaks the app. However, with Android Q, Google might change that and would allow users to rollback apps to an older version. There were numerous permissions and commands that were found in Android Q that suggest it might be possible. First, the new and permissions suggest that the pre-installed market app can act as an agent to manage the rollback of application versions. The former permission is “signature” while the latter is “installer” on top of “signature,” so this means only a platform-signed app with the ...
