OnePlus 6T OxygenOS 9.0.7 update improves Bluetooth stability, brings equalizer to Bluetooth earphones and more

OnePlus has rolled out OxygenOS 9.0.7 update for the OnePlus 6T smartphone, in more than a week after 9.0.6 update. This update brings several improvements, including improved Bluetooth stability for better connectivity, Wi-Fi and standby power consumption optimiztions and improvements to slow-motion videos. It also brings audio tuner or equalizer to Bluetooth earphones. The OnePlus 6T OxygenOS 9.0.7 update is 100MB in size. Check out the complete changelog below. Google rolls out December 2018 Android security update for Pixel and Nexus devices, Improves memory and camera performance for Pixel 2 and 3 series

Google has started rolling out new over-the-air (OTA) update for Pixel devices and also posted factory images as part of monthly Android Security release. The update for this month also includes several functional improvements for these eligible Pixel and Nexus smartphones. however the first generation Pixel and Pixel XL have not received the update. Qualcomm and Nokia announce the completion of 5G NR mmWave and Sub-6 GHz Over-the-Air interoperability

Qualcomm Technologies and Nokia have announced that they have successfully achieved over-the-air (OTA) 5G NR data calls in both the mmWave and sub-6 GHz spectrum bands. It is in compliant with the global 3GPP 5G NR Release 15 specification in NSA mode. The interoperability testing milestones were completed at Nokia’s 5G center of excellence in Oulu, Finland using commercially available Nokia AirScale base stations and a test device powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G modem and antenna modules. It is integrated with RF transceiver, RF front-end and antennaelements. In February 2018, Nokia and Qualcomm Technologies first completed key 3GPP-compliant 5G NR interoperability testing in the 3.5 GHz and 28 GHz spectrum using a commercially available Nokia AirScale base station and device prototypes from Qualcomm Technologies. The OTA calls are key steps in enabling customers in the 5G ecosystem to launch commercial networks and mobile devices from early 2019 onwards, in the United States, Korea, Europe, Australia, Japan and China. After Huawei confirmed the announcement of Nova 4 with in-display on December 17th, Samsung has confirmed that it will introduce its A8s smartphone with display hole for the camera on December 10th, a week before Huawei. Huawei Nova 4 with in-display camera to be announced on December 17

After teasers, Huawei has confirmed that it will introduced its top-end Nova 4 smartphone in China on December 17th. This will be the first company to introduce launch a phone with a small hole in the display to accommodate the front camera, and get rid of the notch, head of  Galaxy A8s that is also expected to go official later this month.   The camera hole is said to be just 4.5mm and it is expected to come with a feature a Full HD+ screen with a screen-to-body ratio of over 92%. As the teaser image shows, the phone still has a small chin. The phone is rumored to be powered by Kirin 980 processor with 6GB RAM, and feature 16MP + 24MP + 16MP triple rear cameras and rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. OnePlus opens its first R&D facility in India in Hyderabad

OnePlus has announced that it has opened its first R&D facility in India in Hyderabad. This will only play a critical role in development of Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning in OnePlus products but will also drive innovations that are centric and relevant to the company’s Indian community, said the company. The company will also leverage the experienced and ingenious talent from Hyderabad. OnePlus said that it weighed in several critical factors before zeroing in on Hyderabad for the R&D centre. Hyderabad, which is one of the fastest growing markets for OnePlus, so it will also be expanding its offline presence in the region, including new own OnePlus Experience Store in the city. Google denies Hangouts shutdown, will upgrade users to Hangouts Chat and Hangouts Meet

After reports of Google shutting down Hangouts to consumers in 2020, Google’s Scott Johnston who runs Hangouts and other related products has denied the reports, however, said that users of consumer Hangouts users will be “upgraded” to Hangouts Chat and Hangouts Meet which are enterprise-focused products.  2/ So while that will result in the eventual shut down of Hangouts classic (as we now call it), it doesn't imply we are ending support for the use case supported by the product: messaging and meetings. — Scott Johnston (@happyinwater) December 1, 2018 This indirectly for the first time confirms that Hangouts Classic will be shutting down “eventually.” Meaning, all the existing Hangouts classic users will be upgraded to Hangouts Chat and Hangouts Meet which are enterprise related products that fill a different need, and the legacy Hangouts which is now available for consumers will be shut down eventually. Google says that it is “fully committed to supporting classic Hangouts users” until a ‘successful’ migration to the new services.
