LG Objet premium brand combines electronic appliances and furniture

LG has launched a new high-end brand with an aim of combining home appliances with furniture, targeting consumers who are seeking unique design. The new brand will be called 'LG Objet' which it will use for what it calls "premium private appliances." The company said: "LG Objet is a new concept of convergence appliances which brings electronics and furniture together."  This claims that the products will not only function as electronics devices but as home decor too. The new brand is LG's second premium brand and follows LG Signature which was launched in 2016. The company said LG Objet products stand out from other appliances in the market as they utilize various materials, including wood and metal, to help consumers customize their home environment. The company even introduced the first batch of LG Objet products; a refrigerator, air purifier, audio system, and TV. The appliances are custom-made and take around three months to produce. WhatsApp Status to start showing ads soon, confirms Vice President Chris Daniels

Back in August, WhatsApp was reported to display ads in the Status section, and now the company's Vice President Chris Daniels confirmed that the company is going to put advertisements in its 'Status' feature. This clears the air on Facebook's monetization efforts towards WhatsApp. This is going to be the company's primary monetization method as well as an opportunity for businesses to reach people on WhatsApp. However, there is no timeline for this development but it has been in the news for quite some time. WhatsApp currently has over 1.5 billion users globally, including more than 250 million in India. There were media reports earlier this month that the Facebook-owned messaging app is planning to allow advertisements to be displayed in the 'Status' section of the app. WhatsApp's 'Status' feature allows users to share text, photos, videos, and animated GIFs that disappear after 24 hours. According to reports, the advertisements would be powered by Facebook's native advertising system and would be aimed at helping users understand and participate in businesses using WhatsApp. This exact reason has made WhatsApp's co-founders leave the company. Brian Acton, who was one of the co-founder recently said that Zuckerberg was in a rush to make money from the messaging service and undermine ...

iOS 12.1 extends battery performance management feature to iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X

Earlier this week Apple released the iOS 12.1 update after testing it for over six weeks. As mentioned in the software update log, Apple has extended the performance management feature to the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X. The company even reflected the change on its iPhone Battery and Performance website. Furthermore, it says that the performance management "may be less noticeable" on the said iPhone models due to their "more advanced hardware and software design."  Going back in time, Apple first enabled the performance management system in iOS 10.2.1, but it was limited to the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 7, and iPhone 7 Plus. Apple back in December mentioned that the design of the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X allows for a "different" performance management system that "more precisely" prevents unexpected shutdowns, however, prior to the iOS 12.1, no performance management feature has been enabled to  iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X. The company said: "Adds a performance management feature to prevent the device from unexpectedly shutting down, including the option to disable this feature if an unexpected shutdown occurs, for iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus." The power management feature can be disabled from the settings app under the battery ...

Apple pulls WatchOS 5.1 update over reports of bricked Apple Watches

Apple WatchOS 5.1 seems to be reportedly bricking the Apple Watches, meaning the update isn't quite ready yet. Apple initially rolled out the update earlier this week along with iOS 12.1 but quickly pulled it hours later the reports of bricked Series 4 watches. Users who are affected by this issue took it to Twitter and Reddit to warn of the issues. This caused some watches to be stuck on the loading screen. The update is no longer available, but for those who did download the update and now have a bricked watch, Apple says it is working on a fix and will ship it as soon as possible. This Apple Watch issue comes in less than 24 hours after Apple unveiled new iPad Pro, refreshed MacBook Air, Mac Mini. Since it is Apple, the patch might be underway and can expect it to be rolled out anytime soon. Apple in a statement said: Due to a small number of Apple Watch customers experiencing an issue while installing watchOS 5.1 today, we’ve pulled back the software update as a precaution. Any customers impacted should contact AppleCare, but no action is required if the update installed successfully. We are working on a fix for an upcoming ...

Apple iOS 12 is on 63% of devices from last four years

A month and a half after the official rollout, iOS 12 is now installed on 63% of active devices from last four years. This data is according to updated iOS 12 installation statistics shared on the App Store support page for developers. Apple has been actively sharing the statistics since the iOS 12 release, providing information on both newer and older devices.  The iOS installation rates are being broken down in a new way. The 63% statistic applies only to devices released in the last four years. 60% of all iOS devices have the update installed. A 29% of devices continue to run iOS 11 while 11% run an earlier version of iOS. As for devices released within the last four years, 30% still run on iOS 11 while 7% have an earlier version of iOS installed. The iOS 12 installation rate grew 10% from data collected back in October which was at 53%. Between October 10th and October 29th, which is the date Apple last collected the installation numbers, the company released the iPhone XR which likely explains the 10% jump in active devices using the new operating system. The jump is expected to be even more over the next 30 days with the iOS 12.1 update. The iOS 12.1 introduces 70 new ...
