Huawei P20 and P20 Pro sales cross 10 million globally, introduces Morpho Aurora, Pearl White colors, P20 Pro Leather variants

Huawei at the IFA 2018 announced that it has sold 10 million units of P20 Pro and P20 smartphones globally in the first five months. It also introduced new variants in the P20 series. It also said that it has shipped over 10 million units in the Mate 10 series. This includes Morpho Aurora and Pearl White variants of the P20 and the P20 Pro that are nature-inspired hues. The company also introduced leather variants of the P20 Pro. This includes Golden Brown and Elegant Black Leather back versions that uses Italian calf leather in the top layer, Pamelatto handmade tanning process offering exquisite, natural texture. Commenting on the latest milestone, Kevin Ho, President of Handset Business, Huawei Consumer Business Group, said: We are humbled by the reception of our latest flagships among global consumers. By going above the 10-million mark, we have again set ourselves a high bar to clear, but we will treat it as a symbol of encouragement that will fuel us as we continue doing what we do best—putting cutting-edge innovations into the hands of consumers around the world.

nubia-α wearable smartphone teased at IFA 2018

ZTE's nubia brand at the IFA 2018 in Berlin teased the nubia-α, which it calls the world's most advanced wearable smartphone. It says that it is not just a smartphone, it is a new species. It has a large, curved OLED touch screen, a camera on the front along with a microphone and buttons on either sides. On the back there are charging pins and a heart rate sensor. It also has a metal strap, and it comes in Black and Golden colors. The company did not share technical details or when it will go on sale, and the device in the video doesn't look like it is still in concept stage. It looks good in the video, but it is not clear how long this will last since most LTE smartwatches with calling capabilities doesn't last throughout the day. We should know more details about nubia's wearable smartphone in the coming months.

Indian wearables shipments cross 1 million in Q2 2018, Xiaomi leads with 45.8% share: IDC

According to the latest report from International Data Corporation (IDC), the wearables market in India has witnessed a growth in the second quarter of 2018 (2018Q2) as the overall wearables market grew 66% year-over-year (YOY) and 40% sequentially, making it the biggest quarter for the wearables category in India. The report also mentioned that one million units of wearables were shipped in 2018 Q2 with top three brands retaining their position in the overall wearables market. Apart from wristbands, which accounted for almost 90% of the shipments during the quarter, watches with wearable computing also grew 34% sequentially. Mi fans! Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro with full-screen display, Kirin 980 7nm SoC to be announced on October 16

Huawei at the IFA 2018 announced its flagship Kirin 980 7nm SoC with dedicated dual neural network processing units. At the end of the event it also confirmed that the Mate 20 series – Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro powered by Kirin 980 will be announced at an event in London on October 16th, same date as last year's Mate 10 series. #ExperienceSmarter with the #Kirin980. The Huawei Mate 20 series might come in four different models and the model numbers are HMA-AL00, HMA-L09, HMA-L29, HMA-TL00. We should know more details about the phones soon.

Huawei Kirin 980 world’s first 7nm SoC with Dual NPU announced

Huawei at the IFA 2018 announced Kirin 980, its next-generation processor of high-end devices and the world’s first commercial mobile SoC manufactured with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturer Company’s (TSMC) 7nm proces and with dedicated Dual Neural Processing Unit (NPU). It is an Octa-Core SoC with two ARM Cortex A76 Cores clocked up to 2.6GHz for Turbo performance, two ARM Cortex A76 Cores clocked up to 1.92GHz for Long-lasting performance and four ARM Cortex A55 Cores clocked up to 1.8 GHz for power efficiency. It has support for LTE Cat.21 offering download speeds of up to 1.4 Gbps. It packs 6.9 billion transistors within a 1cm2 die size, up by 1.6 times from the previous generation. "Compared to the 10nm process, the 7nm process delivers 20 percent improved SoC performance and 40 percent improved SoC efficiency," said Huawei. Compared to Kirin 970, the Kirin 980 promises 75% improved performance and 58% better energy efficiency. The 10-core Mali-G76 GPU has clock boosting technology that intelligently identify gaming workloads and adjust resource allocation for optimal gaming performance. Meizu 16X with 6-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, Snapdragon 710, 6GB RAM, in-display fingerprint sensor gets certified

Soon after the announcement of the Meizu 16 and 16 Plus smartphones earlier this month, the Meizu 16X with the model number M872Q has been certified by TENAA in China. Xiaomi migrates Indian users’ data to local cloud infrastructure

Xiaomi today announced that it is migrating its Indian data to cloud service providers with infrastructure in India. This cover all Indian user data across Xiaomi e-commerce platform (mi.com/in), Mi Community (in.c.mi.com), Mi Cloud, MIUI (Xiaomi Market, feed, Mi Video, advertising, Mi Messaging, push notifications, etc) and Mi TV. It is using Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure infrastructure in India and the company said that all the existing data would be migrated by the end of 2018, while new Indian user data since 1 July is already being stored in local servers. All existing user data on mi.com/in will be fully migrated to servers in India by mid-September 2018. Prior to this these were stored in AWS servers across Singapore and the United States. This promises jump in access speed.
