Xiaomi just announced the Mi 6X, the company's latest mid-range smartphone in China, as it had promised. It packs a 5.99-inch FHD+ 18:9 display, is powered by Snapdragon 660 with up to 6GB RAM, runs Android 8.1 (Oreo) with MIUI 9, has a 12-megapixel rear camera with f/1.75 aperture, Sony IMX486 sensor along with a 20-megapixel secondary rear camera with Sony IMX376 sensor to capture depth information for portrait shots with AI and also has intelligent scent detection that can detect 206 different scenes. It also has the same 20-megapixel Sony IMX376 sensor for the front camera with soft LED flash and AI beautification. OnePlus 6 launching in India on May 17, will go on sale from May 21

Facebook publishes ‘internal enforcement guidelines’, expands its appeal process

Facebook today has published 'internal enforcement guidelines to better help users in understanding where it draws the line on nuanced issues. It is also hoping that publishing 'internal enforcement guidelines will help experts in different fields to give feedback so that the company can improve the standards.  Facebook currently has 11 offices around the world where the content policy team is help responsible for developing the Community Standards. This also includes subject matter experts on issues such as hate speech, child safety, and terrorism. Facebook says that it is aiming to make users know that they are safe to connect with people, have conversations, and express their opinions freely. To do so, identifying the potential violations of its standards is the primary goal and it is using the review system. For its review system, Facebook is using the combination of artificial intelligence and reports from people to identify posts, pictures or other content that likely violates the community standards. Right now Facebook has more than 7,500 content reviewers, over 40% more than the number at this time last year. Apple iOS 11.3.1 with third-party display repair fix, macOS 10.13.4 security update starts rolling out

Apple is rolling out iOS 11.3.1 to iPhones, iPad, and iPod touch and macOS 10.13.4 security update to macOS High Sierra. This new 11.3.1 update is just a bug fix update to the iOS 11.3 software update released last month. It brings the fix to the third-party display issues on the iPhone 8 and security improvements for all iPhones and iPads. Spotify improves free version with new design, data saver, personalized recommendations

Earlier this month there were reports about Spotify working on a new free version of its music streaming services. Falling in line with the reports, the company today unveiled a new improved Spotify free version. This new version lets you discover music more efficiently and is also more personalized. Since it is a free version, it contains ads and also comes with a brand new design. It also contains fifteen new 'On-demand playlists' allowing users to pick and play any track from the curated lists. These on-demand playlists'will be unique to you, based on your musical tastes. Instagram ‘Data Download’ tool lets you download your data

Earlier this month Instagram confirmed that it is testing a download button which will let you download your complete data and today the company is rolling out the feature to everyone. Dubbed 'Data Download' will allow you “download your information so if you wish to leave for another photo sharing network. This new Data Download feature lets you save a copy of your profile data including photos, videos, archived Stories, profile, info, comments, and messages. It can take a few hours for your download to be ready. This information about the download button is confirmed by the Instagram Spokesperson and said: “the Data Download tool is currently accessible to everyone on the web." The update to iOS and Android is still rolling out. However, there's a catch; the download contains info, photos, videos, archived Stories that are posted after December 2017. It also includes story captions, your uploaded contacts, the usernames of your followers and people you follow, direct messages, non-ephemeral Direct message photos and videos, comments, Likes, searches, and settings. Instagram now lets you upload multiple photos and videos to stories at once

Instagram is bringing a much-needed feature to its stories. It will now let you upload multiple photos and videos to stories at once. You will now see a new icon in the upload media at the top right corner of the screen. Tap the button and start selecting photos or videos. This new feature allows you to upload up to ten photos or videos from your gallery at once. On the edit screen page, you can preview of all the media you’ve selected lined up at the bottom. However, if you wish to change order or edit individual images, you can tap each one and edit with stickers, text and all the other tools in Instagram Stories. When you’re done, all of the photos and videos in your preview will upload at once in the order you selected them. Furthermore, Instagram is also making it easier to add location to the images or videos you wish to upload. WhatApp raises minimum age in Europe to 16 ahead of new privacy law changes, will soon let you download data it collects

WhatsApp today announced that it is raising the minimum age to use their services from 13 to 16 in Europe ahead of the new privacy law changes. These new data law changes come into force next month. In the next few weeks, WhatsApp will ask users to confirm if they are at least 16 years old when they are prompted to agree with new terms of service and a privacy policy provided by a new WhatsApp Ireland Ltd entity. However, it is unclear how WhatsApp will check the age limit given the limited permissions and data request. Facebook, on the other hand, is using a different approach for users between 13-15. It will ask the users within the age limit to nominate a parent or guardian to permit for them to share information on the platform. If the users don't nominate, they won't have access to a fully personalized version of the social media platform.
