China smartphone shipments reach 98.9 million units, down 3.6% YoY in Q3 2019: IDC

Smartphone shipments in China appear to be improving with a 3.9% decline YoY, up from the 6% decline YoY in Q2 2019, thanks due to HUAWEI's strong domestic sales. The top 5 manufacturers in China for Q3 2019 were HUAWEI, Vivo, OPPO, Xiaomi and Apple with the total smartphone shipments counting to 98.9 million units. HUAWEI claimed the top spot with a record 42% market share in the Chinese market. With Google play services banned for HUAWEI in the global market, HUAWEI focussed heavily on its domestic market. While the Changxiang and Nova series were the volume drivers, the high-margin Mate and P series provided attractive channel margins. Vivo sold about 18.1 million units, having strong sales in the US$150-200 and US$200-400 segments with its Y and Z series. The iQOO series proved to be popular with the tech enthusiasts and Vivo also garnered some interest with its cheaper 5G models. OPPO smartphone shipments declined by 21.7% in Q3 2019 with the Reno series and A series being its main volume sales. Realme 3 and 3i latest update brings Dark Mode, Redesigned Notification Center, November security patch and more

realme launched the realme 3 smartphone in India back in March, later in July it launched the realme 3i, a cheaper version. Both these run Android 9.0 (Pie) based ColorOS 6 back in June. Now it has released new RMX1821EX_11.A.24 update for the phone with the latest November security patch for the users. Vivo U20 with Snapdragon 675, up to 6GB RAM, triple rear cameras launching in India on November 22

Vivo launched the U10 smartphone, the first in the U20 series in India back in September. Now the company has confirmed U20, the second smartphone in the U series will be launched in the country on November 22nd on Amazon.in. The image shows a water-drop notch screen, triple rear cameras, gradient back and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The company has also confirmed Snapdragon 675 for the phone, compared to Snapdragon 665 in the U10. This will be the third Vivo phone to launch in India with Snapdragon 675 after the Vivo V15 Pro and the latest V17 Pro. It has also confirmed up to 6GB of RAM for the phone, and UFS 2.1 storage, so there could be 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB versions. It will likely feature a Full HD+ LCD screen. We can expect more specifications of the phone in the coming days, and the price when it is launched next Friday.

Twitter announced in a blog post that they are introducing a new feature called Topics. This feature is designed to let users follow all the best tweets from a particular news topic that they choose. Fujifilm X-A7 with 24.24MP APS-C sensor launched in India for Rs. 59000

  Fujifilm has announced their newest addition to their X-Series cameras, called the FUJIFILM X-A7. The camera boasts a newly developed 24.24MP APS-C sensor with copper wiring to enable high-speed data readout, and features phase detection pixels across the entire sensor surface to enhance AF speed and accuracy. The camera body is designed with a retro touch, weighs 320g and will come in 4 colours namely Silver, Camel, Mint Green and Dark Silver.
