Google Duo 36 confirms multi-device and tablet support, drops support for Jelly Bean

Google Duo has received a new update with version number V36, and this seems to be a small service update that doesn't bring major changes to the table. However, it marks the end of Jelly Bean support and sets KitKat (4.4) as the oldest officially supported version. The end of Jelly Bean support doesn't mean that the won't work anymore. Instead,  it will no longer receive updates to the app. It also stands as a reason that the app will eventually adopt new protocols and codecs for audio and video that might no longer be compatible. Now to the stuff lying underneath, we have always known that Google Duo will have multi-device and tablet support. The addition of Google account support made us log into a phone and tablet at the same time with the same account and use them seamlessly. Since Play Store on tablets didn't have Google Duo listing, side-loading was the only way to go. The new update comes with some new and updated text that suggests the team is almost ready to unveil tablet support. The big addition points out that users can make and receive calls on tablets. In fact, the new version adds that you can sign into "other devices" with the same account. ...

Google Camera update brings Google Lens integration to Pixel and Nexus phones

Google is rolling out a new update to its Camera application bringing the version number to 5.2.025, and this brings the much talked Google Lens integration to Pixel and Nexus phones. At the I/O 2018, Google showcased the Lens integration directly into the camera app, and OEMs like Sony, Motorola, OnePlus have started implementing it already, and now Google's own Pixel and Nexus are getting it.  The Lens option can be found by opening the navigation drawer and then tapping the hamburger icon at the top left or swipe from the left edge to the center. The functionality remains the same as it used to be in the Assistant and Standalone app. So, technically there is nothing new that we haven't seen already. Simply put, it's just another way to reach Lens. The main features like recognizing and copying text or reading barcodes are retained. This should work on Nexus and Pixel phones, but we hope it should work on any other phone compatible with the Google Camera app. You can update the Google Camera application directly from Play Store or download the APK and side-load it. Apple said to introduce high-end water resistant AirPods and over-ear headphones in 2019

Apple might be on the verge of pumping up its audio strategy as the company is planning on introducing high-end AirPods, studio-quality over-ear headphones, and a new HomePod in 2019. The new AirPods is expected to come with noise-cancellation and water resistance. Interestingly, the company is also said to be trying to increase the range that AirPods can work away from an iPhone or iPad. The water resistance is mainly to protect against rain and perspiration, sources said. Apple also said to have internally discussed adding biometric sensors like a heart-rate monitor to future AirPods, to expand its health-related hardware offerings beyond the Apple Watch. The Apple earbuds will likely cost more than the existing $159. The current AirPods will see a refresh later this year with a new chip and support for hands-free Siri activation. Apple is also prepping high-end studio-quality over-ear headphones that will likely compete with Bose Corp. and Sennheiser. Though the company has planned for a 2018 launch, thanks to development challenges, it is now pushed as early as next year. Apple declared itself one of the largest shippers of audio speakers because of the earbuds that were bundled with its products and the built-in speakers in iPhones, Macs, and iPads back in 2012. Apple is planning to ...
