India smartphone market in 2019: 152.5 million units shipped, up 8% YoY; Xiaomi continues as market leader

India continues to be the second biggest smartphone market in the world, with over 152 million units that calculates 8.0% year-over-year (YoY) growth, according to IDC. The top 5 smartphone manufacturer who sold the most amount of units in India for 2019 were: Xiaomi, Vivo, Samsung, OPPO and realme. In regards to Q4 2019, the market saw a growth of 5.5% YoY, shipping a total of 36.9 million smartphone units. This does a calculate 20.8% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) decline but that is expected as Q3 of a year will see huge shipment numbers due to Diwali festive sales period. Online channels saw a growth of 11.2% YoY in Q4 2019 with 43.3% market share and offline channels saw a tiny growth of 1.4% YoY Xiaomi dominated the Indian market, selling a whopping 43.6 million units in 2019. Its 9.2% YoY growth can be explained with the launch of its popular Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi 6A and the newer Redmi 8/Note 8 series. Vivo took the second place for Q4 2019, with 6.9 million units, seeing a massive growth of 96.5% compared to Q4 2018. Realme X50 Pro 5G with Snapdragon 865, up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM to be announced at MWC 2020 on February 24

After teasers realme has announced that it will introduce the realme X50 Pro 5G flagship smartphone at its first global launch event and also its first MWC event in Barcelona on February 24th. The teaser image shows dual punch-hole display, similar to the realme X50 5G which was introduced in China last month. realme China CMO Xu Qi Chase recently confirmed that the realme X50 Pro 5G with the model number RMX2071 will be powered by Snapdragon 865 with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.0 storage and run Android 10 with realme UI on top. A recent AnTuTu Benchmark leak revealed 5,74,985 scores. The screenshot also reveals 1080 × 2400 pixels Full HD+ 20:9 screen, and it will likely feature 120Hz refresh rate, similar to the X50, but it should be an AMOLED screen instead of LCD. It is said to support 50W fast charging. The realme X50 Pro 5G launch at MWC next month is set for February 24 at 10 AM CEST (1:30PM IST). Xiaomi Mi 10 with Snapdragon 865, 5G , up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, 108MP quad rear cameras to be announced on February 13

Xiaomi today announced that it will introduce the Mi 10 series of flagship phones at an online-only event in China on February 13th. The CEO said that few weeks back it planned to make it as a big event with 3000 people, but it has decided against it due to ongoing health risk in the country.  Xiaomi already confirmed Snapdragon 865 Mobile platform and Samsung’s 108MP sensor for the phone and also said that it will feature quad rear cameras. The company recently confirmed up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM from Micron Technology. Today it has confirmed UFS 3.0 for the phone. It will come with Wi-Fi 6 8x8 MU-MIMO support, making it the first phone with the feature. Live images of the Mi 10 Pro that surfaced last month revealed punch-hole AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate, in-display fingerprint scanner and 3D curved glass back.
