Asus launched the Zenfone Live L1 (ZA550KL) and Zenfone Max (M1), two budget smartphones in India last month. LG patent hints at a smartphone with 16 rear cameras
LG is planning to take its smartphone camera up a notch as the Korean company filed a patent with USPTO for a smartphone with 16 camera lenses. The patent was granted on 20 November 2018. The lenses are placed in a specific curvature within a matrix arrangement on the rear side. The lenses are available from multiple perspectives, and you can also choose to select multiple lenses. Images shot from different lenses at the same time can be combined into a moving image. A part of the photo can be taken by another lens, and it is also possible to combine several parts or different photos together. You can also select a head or object, after which you can turn it into almost any desired position. Besides the cameras, there is also a mirror on the back, and it can be used in a self-portrait fashion. Also, the patent describes the possibility of integrating a second display on the back of the device. However, the screen is not shown in the patent sketches. OPPO introduces ColorOS 6 with improved UI for full-screen devices, gradient colors, new font and more
OPPO on its 5th anniversary of ColorOS last week, introduced ColorOS 6, the next major upgrade that will be designed for full-screen devices bringing improved UI, gradient colors, new OPPO Sans font, new animations and more. The company said that ColorOS is now present in 2.5 billion devices across 140 counrties ColorOS 6 discards a lot of style lines and white space for a clear interface. The main aim is to increase information density and make the interface more elegant and comfortable to read, says the company. New Gradient color system is used in the new UI more extensively. The new OPPO Sans developed in cooperation with Hanyi, a well-known domestic font manufacturer offers a more modern and simple style, with more uniform strokes and more tidy visual performance. It introduces slow and smooth animation to focus on rich detail and new animation experience. It also has built-in AI features to learn which apps you use frequently and suspend unused apps to improve power efficiency and reduce overall power consumption by 7%. ColorOS 6 will roll out starting from top-end smartphones like R17 and R17 Pro starting from December.
Huawei teases full-screen smartphone with in-display camera for December
Huawei has posted a new teaser that reveals that it working on a new smartphone that might be competing with the Galaxy A8s which is rumored to have a small hole within the display to accommodate the front camera. The upcoming Huawei smartphone whose name is currently under the wraps said to feature a similar cut out at the top-left corner is also said to launch in December. According to rumors, Huawei is planning on becoming the first company to launch the phone with this new design before Samsung does. At the moment, the specifications and the exact details of the smartphone are not clear. The company has just released a teaser image which just shows the phone with no bezels on any corner and a cut out at the top for the front camera. The image doesn't mention any further details except for the December launch. According to earlier reports, it might include an in-display fingerprint sensor. With December right around the corner, it should be interesting to see which company does the cutout notch better since it's not about who does it first but it's about who does it best. Samsung Galaxy M2 with Full HD+ notch display, Exynos 7885 surface in benchmarks
Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy M2 smartphone in the days to come, as the device now surfaced on the AnTuTu and Geekbench. The listings reveal some of the specifications of Galaxy M2 and hint that it might be an entry-level smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy M2 is the first smartphone in the company’s new Galaxy M series. Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy M series is said to replace its online exclusive Galaxy On series of smartphones. It scores a 1,319 in the single-core test and 4,074 in the multi-score test on Geekbench and on AnTuTu the device was able to score 107452. According to the listings, Samsung Galaxy M2 sports a Full HD+ display with a 19:5:9 aspect ratio suggesting the phone might sport a notch on top of the display. The Samsung Galaxy M2 will be powered by the company’s own Exynos 7885 processor with Mali-G71 MP2 GPU. The device packs 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. Samsung could also release a 64GB storage model and runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with Experience UI on top. Mitsubishi and NTT DOCOMO achieve first 27Gbps 5G data speeds in outdoor trials
Mitsubishi Electric and NTT DOCOMO have announced that both the companies have achieved world's first 5G mobile telecommunications proof of concept for 27Gbps and 25Gbps maximum throughputs via one mobile terminal over communication distances of 10m and 100m, respectively, using the 28GHz radio frequency. The demonstration was conducted during joint outdoor field trials using 28GHz-band massive-element antenna systems and 16-beam spatial-multiplexing technology with 500MHz bandwidth. The trial took place in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture Japan from September 10 to 28, 2018. For outdoor trials using the 28GHz band, Mitsubishi Electric used an antenna system with 16-beam spatial-multiplexing technology. Base-station antennas installed on the wall of a building directed beams to mobile-terminal antennas installed on the rooftop of a vehicle. The company says that the trial was the world's first successful wireless downlink transmission at maximum data rates of 27Gbps and 25Gbps for per one mobile terminal when the communication distance was 10m and 100m, respectively.
