LG patent hints at a smartphone with 16 rear cameras

LG is planning to take its smartphone camera up a notch as the Korean company filed a patent with USPTO for a smartphone with 16 camera lenses. The patent was granted on 20 November 2018. The lenses are placed in a specific curvature within a matrix arrangement on the rear side. The lenses are available from multiple perspectives, and you can also choose to select multiple lenses. Images shot from different lenses at the same time can be combined into a moving image. A part of the photo can be taken by another lens, and it is also possible to combine several parts or different photos together. You can also select a head or object, after which you can turn it into almost any desired position. Besides the cameras, there is also a mirror on the back, and it can be used in a self-portrait fashion. Also, the patent describes the possibility of integrating a second display on the back of the device. However, the screen is not shown in the patent sketches. The speaker grill is placed on the rear, and this speaker works in conjunction with the front speaker, to create a stereo sound.
