Google’s upcoming Pixel Slate Chrome OS tablet might support Windows 10 dual-booting

Apart from Pixel 3 flagships, Chromecast 3, Pixel stand, Google might also be launching a new Pixel Slate, Google’s first ever Chrome OS tablet. However, a Chromium commit seems to indicate that Chrome OS may not be the only operating system this Pixel Slate might run.  News on the wind is that Google is working on making select Chromebooks able to dual-boot Windows 10. So far only Pixelbook is confirmed to get such feature and another commit from July seems to indicate that the second Chromebook with Windows 10 dual-boot is being tested on is ‘Nocturne‘, the device in Chromium that is said to be the Pixel slate. The key quote in the code here is “Windows 10 will BSOD early during boot with the way things are currently laid out.” An earlier version of this change read “I’ve got an OS that can’t boot with the way things are currently laid out.” It is becoming clear that at least one Googler has been working to ensure the device will boot correctly on Windows 10. However, it doesn't mean Pixel Slate might launch with dual-boot capability right away. It does, however, mean that if and when Windows 10 support is officially announced for certain Chromebooks, ...

Some iPhone XS and XS Max units not charging automatically even after plugging

Some Apple iPhone XS and XS Max users are reporting about their iPhones not charging automatically even after plugging in when the screen is off. Affected units require the screen to be on and re-plug in their cables for charging to begin. A majority of XS and XS Max models exhibit the problem.  However, soon after the issue became wide-spread, users of older iPhones and iPads started reporting that they too have noticed the issue, meaning that it can be a software bug on the iOS 12.  iPhones with the issue seems to be not responding when plugged in as they should. Typically, iPhones light up the screen when plugged in to charge and starts to charge with the battery indicator visible on the lock screen. There seems to be no problem with the device when the iPhones are turned on as they stop working only when it is off. https://youtu.be/J_lRJuQtBmc At this moment, it is unclear if it is a hardware or software issue, but since only a hand full of iPhone users are reporting this, it could be a hardware with a certain batch or an intermittent firmware issue. Users affected by the problem indicate that the iPhone works with wireless charging pads normally. A few ...

Google Chromecast 3 with refreshed design, Bluetooth support and improved Wi-Fi surfaces in live images

Back in August, we had heard that Google is working on a new Chromecast with Bluetooth connectivity and improved Wi-Fi reception. Now, filling the void, the upcoming Chromecast has surfaced ahead of the possible October 9th launch. Courtesy of a Redditor who has bought the Chromecast from Best Buy to find out that it looked different from regular Chromecast.  This surely is a surprise since the company is yet to introduce the new Chromecast, but none of the specifications have come out yet, but the images suggest that Google has redesigned it a bit. There is a comparison picture which shows the 3rd-generation Chromecast alongside the 2nd-generation model, and the differences are clear. However, both the models have the same basic design with circular body housing the components and an HDMI cable attached to connect to the TV. According to the Redditor, the upcoming Chromecast said to have eliminated the magnetic connector that allows easy management of that HDMI cable, though. It also removed the glossy plastic design which is being replaced with a matte coating. It’s also mentioned that the 3rd-generation Chromecast is a bit thicker than the previous version. The Chromecast logo has also been replaced with Google’s “G” logo which we commonly see ...
