Qin AI Phone 4G VoLTE feature phone with real-time voice translation available for order through Xiaomi’s crowdfunding platform

Qin AI Phone, a new 4G VoLTE feature phone is now available for order from Xiaomi's crowd funding platform in China. It has a 2.8-inch QVGA color display with T9 keyboard and runs Android-based Mocor 5 OS. The main highlight of the smartphone its AI voice features that promises real-time voice translation in 17 languages. The AI can also tell a story or poetry to children, in addition to answering questions. It doesn't have rear or front camera, but it features infrared sensor that lets you control home appliances like AC, TV and others. The 1480mAh battery promises up to 15 hours of talk time and 420 hours standby, and it charges via USB Type-C port. There is also a 2G version of the phone with Nucleus OS, MediaTek MT6260A ARM Cortex A7 SoC, 8MB RAM and 16MB internal storage. Along with the Galaxy Tab S4, Samsung also introduced the Galaxy Tab A (2018) with a 10.5-inch WUXGA display. It is powered by Snapdragon 450 with 3GB of RAM, runs Android 8.1 (Oreo) and comes with quad-speakers built into each corner of the tablet with support from Dolby Atmos. It packs a huge 7,300mAh battery. Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 with 10.5-inch WQXGA Super AMOLED display, Iris Scanner, S Pen, 4G LTE announced

Samsung has announced the Galaxy Tab S4, successor of last year’s Galaxy Tab S3, as expected. It has a 10.5-inch Super AMOLED WQXGA screen, is powered by a Octa-Core Snapdragon 835 SoC and runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo). It has quad-stereo speakers tuned by AKG by HARMAN, similar to the predecessor and comes with an an enhanced S Pen. It has got rid of the fingerprint scanner and the home button on the front for Iris scanner. Samsung has brought Samsung DeX to the tablet for the first time. When connected to the Book Cover Keyboard or launched from the Quick Panel, the Galaxy Tab S4 powers on Samsung DeX that lets you switch from the Android interface to a desktop experience. You can also extend Samsung DeX to an external monitor with a compatible HDMI to USB-C multi-port adapter. When connected, the Galaxy Tab S4 can serve as a track pad or a sketch pad, it continues to work as a fully functional Android tablet, giving users two screens to accomplish tasks. Google said to be planning on launching censored search engine in China

Google is said to be planning on launching a censored version of its search engine in China that will blacklist websites and search terms about human rights, democracy, religion, and peaceful protest. The project is code-named Dragonfly and has been underway since spring of 2017.  The project acceleration started taking shape after the meeting between Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai and a top Chinese government official, according to internal Google documents and sources. Furthermore, Google teams of programmers and engineers said to have created a custom Android app, codenamed  “Maotai” and “Longfei,” and is a different version. Interestingly, the final version of the app has already been demonstrated to the Chinese government; the finalized version could be launched in the next six to nine months, pending approval from Chinese officials. If Google can achieve this, it marks the first time the internet giant has operated its search engine in the country. The current situation in China has blocked the Google’s search service by the country’s Firewall. The new app built by Google for China will comply with the country’s strict censorship laws, restricting access to content that Xi Jinping’s Communist Party regime deems unfavorable. Mobiistar C1 Lite, C1, C2, E1 Selfie and X1 Dual launched in India for offline market starting at Rs. 4340

Vietnam-based Mobiistar forayed into the Indian market with the XQ Dual and CQ selfie smartphones back in May. Today it has launched five new selfie smartphones - C1 Lite, C1, C2, E1 Selfie and X1 Dual in the country for the offline market. The company did not share the SoC details and Android version for most of the smartphones, we will update the article when we get them. Google Clock app now lets you set music on Spotify as default alarm sounds

Google today is rolling out a new update to the Google Clock app where you can set your favorite music on Spotify as alarm sounds. You can now swap classic alarm tones with any song of your choice.    You need to have the latest version of Spotify that is connected to the device and Clock app for this to work. This feature works for both Free and Premium Spotify users. Then choose your perfect wake up music. You can browse recently played music, choose from Spotify’s curated morning playlists, or search for a specific soundtrack. When the alarm goes off, you’ll have the option to continue listening to Spotify throughout your day. This feature will be rolling out globally this week on the Play Store and will be available on all devices running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and above. Source

TRAI releases 4G and 5G spectrum recommendations, price for next auction

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) just released recommendations on Auction of Spectrum in 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz, 2500 MHz, including 5G spectrum - 3300-3400 MHz and 3400-3600 MHz bands after the Department of Telecommunications (DoT)   requested TRAI to provide applicable reserve price, quantum of spectrum to be auctioned and associated conditions for auction of spectrum. This includes 3300-4200MHz bands, which  likely to emerge as primary band for early 5G introduction. In the last spectrum auction, held in October 2016, entire 770 MHz in 700 MHz band, 58.75 MHz in 800 MHz band, 9.4 MHz in 900 MHz 3 band, 46.8 MHz in 1800 MHz band, 275 MHz in 2100 MHz band, 230 MHz (unpaired) in 2500 MHz band remained unsold, and the Government got bids worth Rs. 65,789 crore, less than their target. As the result, the entire spectrum in 770 MHz band, 58.75 MHz spectrum in 19 circles, entire spectrum in 900 MHz  band will be available in forthcoming auction. BSNL has closed its CDMA services in 6 circles - Bihar, Haryana, Punjab, HP, UP (W) and Kolkata.
