OPPO Find X confirmed to feature 5x dual-camera zoom, Super VOOC flash charge
OPPO already announced that it will introduce its flagship Find X smartphone on June 19th at an event in Paris. Today the company said that the phone will include new technologies that were introduced for the past four years. It also said that these will help define Find X and future generations of OPPO smartphones to come. As rumored the phone will come with dual rear cameras with 5X optical zoom that was first introduced at the MWC 2017 This will use a module that uses a periscope structure to divert light 90-degrees through prism into a hidden telephoto lens. OPPO says that the 5x dual camera module is only 5.7mm thick, which is even 10% thinner than a traditional 2x optical zoom lens in a smartphone. It will also include Super VOOC Flash Charge technology that was introduced at the MWC 2016. This is based on a brand new low voltage pulse algorithm and exclusive customized super battery developed by OPPO, that can fully charge a 2500 mAh battery within 15 minutes. A recent certification at the 3C in China revealed the same 5V/4A (20W) charger for the phone, same as the VOOC Flash Charge used in OPPO's current phones. It is not clear how this would work. Earlier this year ...
Uber patents hint at AI system that can detect erratic behaviour in riders
Uber seems to be patenting on a new technology that will use the AI system to detect any erratic behavior in riders. Furthermore, the AI can identify user’s drunken behavior to accommodate them before they get into the cab. This is the system mentioned by Uber’s Trust & Safety team in 2016 and is now published yesterday. Perhaps this technology will track how someone typically uses the app like any typos, how precisely they click on buttons, their walking speed, and the way their phone is typically held or dropped on any given day. Factors like these will be plugged into Uber’s planned algorithm, along with details about when and where the ride was requested. The technology will also observe if the ride is required from a location that is loaded with bars. An Uber driver who is set to pick up the tipsy rider might get a notification on their phone beforehand. A passenger may only match with drivers who are trained or experienced in handling people in this state, or the rider might be prevented from joining a carpool. It remains a puzzle as to how Uber would implement this technology with possibilities like assault and abuse at the hands of Uber drivers which ...

Android Messages might soon be integrated within Chrome OS
According to a new commit in the open source Chromium Gerrit, Google is said to be working on Chrome OS and Android Messages integration. No new introduction is needed for Chrome OS; it is Google's operating system for laptops, set-top boxes, and more recently, detachable, and tablets. On the other hand, Android Messages and RCS client is part of most Android devices. With Google rumored to be launching a dedicated a web client for Android Messages, this news surely comes as a surprise. However, commit and feature flag descriptions lack any details about the integration. Another commit involves a workaround for pairing the Chromebook with an Android device and that the pairing is handled “in the browser process.” We have already seen support for most browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Opera, and Apple Safari, but this is the first we’re hearing about anything Chromebook-specific. For now, this is all we have about the Android Messages and Chrome integration; we will let you know once we know more. Source | Via

As for the mini Apple iPhone 6.1-inch model will have single rear camera lens and will measure 147.12 x 71.52 mm (5.79 x 2.81-inches). Since it is a low-cost iPhone, the company might cut down on 3D touch but will have a ...

OnePlus acknowledges OnePlus 6 bootloader protection bypass vulnerability, will roll out fix soon
OnePlus 6 was launched last month and the community development of the device has already started. In fact, an official TWRP recovery has been released as well much like many other OnePlus phones. However, a security researcher Jason Donenfeld, president of Edge Security LLC has discovered a vulnerability on the device that allows the device to boot any arbitrary modified image that bypasses bootloader protection measures. The #OnePlus6 allows booting arbitrary images with `fastboot boot image.img`, even when the bootloader is completely locked and in secure mode. pic.twitter.com/MaP0bgEXXd — Edge Security (@EdgeSecurity) June 9, 2018 This vulnerability allows attackers with physical access and a tethered connection to a PC to take control of the device which is a serious concern. In case if the boot image is modified with any insecure ADB and ADB as root by default, it will gain the attacker the physical access and will have total control over the device. To exploit this vulnerability, the attacker does not require the user to have USB Debugging enabled; this means that the attacker only needs to gain physical access. Not very surprisingly, OnePlus has acknowledged the issue and says that it will be following up on this matter as more information becomes available. In a statement OnePlus spokesperson said: We take security seriously ...
