Netflix for Android finally gets redesigned UI with larger controls, next episode button and more

Netflix for Android finally brings the much-needed update with redesigned U.I with larger controls, forward video, next episode button, and more. This redesigned U.I is long overdue as the player felt a little underwhelming as opposed to great content it carries.  It also brings a new forward and back 10-second buttons which makes it easy to jump to the exact point. Much like YouTube, you can double tap on the left or right side of the screen while watching to instantly go forward or back. The update also brings bigger controls like play/pause, with labels to quickly select Episodes or turn on Audio & Subtitles. Most importantly, it gets a new“Next Episode” button to get to the next one even faster. This new update fixes almost everything, the play/pause buttons are now centered instead of leaving them at the left corner. Though the forward and backward doesn't rack up to +20, +30, it still is something that is better than nothing. The episodes' and 'Audio & Subtitles' buttons have been moved to the bottom with the caption. If you are a Netflix user, you can download or update the app from Play Store  Hope the Netflix iOS app will get the new UI soon. Via

Samsung Display showcases new 2.43-inch 1200 PPI AMOLED VR display

Early last week, Google and LG teamed up to showcase the next-gen VR OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and 1443ppi. Samsung at the SID 2018 exhibition last week unveiled a 2.43-inch VR panel with a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels accounting for a pixel density of 1200 PPI. Apart from the most ambitious VR panel, Samsung also has three different panels on display; two were 3.5-inch and 3.2-inch panels with 1440×1600 and 1824×1824 resolution, with a pixel density of 616 PPI and 806 PPI. It is possible that Samsung might be working on standalone virtual reality headsets across different price ranges. However, it could also be a speculation at this moment since Samsung didn't mention anything about an upcoming Gear VR. https://youtu.be/Hk7j2pFYQQI However, models with different prices and specs sound like a good idea to get things going for its standalone headset. Either way, we should wait for some more time to see what Samsung is planning. Source

TRAI proposes the use of Blockchain technology to curb spam calls and messages

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is back again with new proposals that state the use of Blockchain technology to curb spam calls and messages. However, the problem still retained thanks to the unscrupulous elements that started obtaining customers' consent or resorted to use of unregistered telemarketers that call or message from a ten-digit number. These fraud calls are on the rise in the recent times. The proposed Blockchain or distributed ledger has proven useful where the objective is to cryptographically secure information and make it available only when it is needed to know basis. In fact, it will be the first instance anywhere in the world to use this technology at such a scale in the telecom sector. Blockchain will ensure two things non-repudiative and confidentiality, meaning only those authorized to access details will be able to access subscriber details and ...
