Samsung introduces world’s first DCI-certified Onyx Cinema 4K LED screen in India

Samsung introduced new Onyx brand at CinemaCon last month, under which it introduced world’s first Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI)-certified theater display with Onyx View, Onyx 3D and Onyx Sound features that combines advanced LED and High Dynamic Range (HDR) picture quality to life-like big screen content. Today, the company has introduced it in India, delivering better visual quality, technical performance and reliability beyond that of traditional projector-based operations. Onyx View promises brighter and more detail-rich content with infinite contrast and specialized low-tone greyscale settings. It delivers HDR (High Dynamic Range) to the cinema, showcasing on-screen contents at peak brightness level, nearly 10 times greater than that offered by standard cinema projectors (146fL versus 14fL) with improved uniformity and free of optical distortion and interference, said Samsung. The screen maintains its advanced presentation capabilities in ambient lighting conditions regardless of the featured on-screen content and accommodate users who wish to utilize their theatres for corporate events, concert, sports event viewing & gaming competitions. The 3D Onyx Cinema LED screen crafts 3D movie content more realistically, through enhanced brightness and consistent colour amplification.
