OPPO R15 and R15 Plus with bezel-less display, top-notch teased
After a recent leak, OPPO has officially teased R15 and R15 Plus, the company's upcoming flagship smartphones in the 'R Series' in China. Both these will have bezel-less full-screen displays and the image also confirms top notch. The phone is said to come with 93.94% screen-to-body ratio. These are said to come with improved dual rear cameras compared to the R11 series. Some rumors say that it will be the first smartphone to use upcoming Snapdragon 670 or 700 series SoC, an upgraded version of the Snapdragon 660 that powers the R11 series. The OPPO R15 and OPPO R15 smartphones are expected to be announced later this month. HTC Desire 12 Plus with 5.99-inch full-screen display, Snapdragon 450 surfaces
HTC Desire 12 retail box was leaked a few days back revealing some basic details regarding the chipset, display and more. Today the specifications of the Plus variant have surfaced online. Not just specs, according to sources, the Desire 12 Plus goes by the code-name "Breeze Plus," internally. The Desire 12 Plus is expected to be a mid-range, it is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 Octa-Core chip clocked at 1.8GHz with 3GB RAM. Unlike the regular Desire 12 which is backed by a MediaTek chipset, Desire 12 gets a decent chipset from Qualcomm. It will sport a 5.99-inch TFT display (1,440 by 720 pixels) with 18:9 aspect ratio and a pixel density of 268 PPI. In terms of the camera, there is a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel shooter on the front. It will have 32GB storage and a microSD card slot for memory expansion. It measures in at 158.24 x 76.54 x 8.39mm and weight 155.01g. It gets support for GSM bands 850, 900, 1800, and 1900, as well as LTE bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20, and 40. Twitter seeks ideas to make the platform more healthy and civil
In order to increase the collective health, openness, and civility of public conversation around the world, Twitter says that it will be using the more holistic approach and measure the impact of the platform on the world in the days to come. Twitter's health measure will be built and measured just the way how the company encourages more healthy debate, conversations, and critical thinking; conversely, abuse, spam, and manipulation will detract from it. Twitter is also looking for partners and outside experts to help in identifying how to measure the health of Twitter, keep accountability and share the progress with the world. Twitter says that this approach is inspired by the work of similar organizations in the industry. Cortico, a non-profit research organization, has spent the time to understand the concept of measuring conversational health and developed four indicators to measure it: shared attention, shared reality, a variety of opinion, and receptivity. To achieve what health means on Twitter, the company is taking in proposals by Friday, April 13 in the form that includes Contact information, proposed health metrics, and methods for capturing, measuring, evaluating and reporting on such metrics, resource requirements and methodology and more. Worldwide wearable shipments up 10.3% YoY in 2017, Apple leads with 15.3% market share: IDC
According to IDC, the worldwide wearables market continued to grow in both the Q4 and whole of 2017 with the total shipments reaching a new record. Apple moved past Fitbit and Xiaomi to become the leader in the wearable market worldwide. The total volumes of the quarter reached 37.9 million units, which is up 7.7% from the 35.2 million units shipped YoY. As for the whole full year, the total wearable device shipments reached 115.4 million units, up 10.3% from the 104.6 million units shipped in 2016. However, the 10.3% year-over-year growth in 2017 is a marked decline from the 27.3% growth we saw in 2016. Apple after spending very close to Fitbit in the second position for several quarters has taken the first position. Watch series 3 with LTE connectivity made a huge difference. The company shipped a total of 8 million units in Q4 2017 with a market share of 21% and has seen shipments of 17.7 million units for entire 2017 with the market share of 15.3%. Xiaomi Mi 5 Android 8.0 Oreo MIUI Global Beta ROM released
Earlier this week, Xiaomi started rolling out Oreo Based MIUI Stable update to its 2017 flagship Mi 6, and with today’s weekly MIUI Beta update company is updating its 2016 flagship Mi 5 to Android Oreo. The new update is based on Android Oreo 8.0 and also brings February security patch to the device. Users need to flash the Oreo based ROM manually even if they are using MIUI Global Beta ROM on their devices as incremental update to MIUI 8.3.1 is still based on Android Nougat 7.0. Users can download the Recovery ROM here and flash it using updater method or download the Fastboot ROM to flash it using fastboot method. The company is recommending users to do a clean fastboot flash as the ROM contains an Android upgrade. Dropbox partners with Google to bring native G Suite integration
Dropbox today announced that it is partnering with Google to bring native integration of G Suite and let users make better use of the cloud collaboration company’s toolset which will bring the ability to create and save Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides directly from Dropbox. Dropbox business admins will be able to manage Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides just like any other content that is present in the Dropbox. it also mentioned that it is building new, native Dropbox integration for Gmail and Google Hangouts Chat. With the integration, you’ll be able to select files from your Dropbox account and send links directly from Gmail and Hangouts Chat. Microsoft to roll out Intel’s Spectre macrocode fixes in upcoming Windows update
Microsoft today announced that it is rolling out Windows security update for additional devices against Spectre and Meltdown and distribute the available Intel firmware, and progress driving anti-virus compatibility. Microsoft says that windows devices need both software and firmware updates against these new vulnerabilities. Furthermore, Microsoft recently added software coverage for x86 editions of Windows 10 and said to roll out support for all compatible versions of Windows. Though the software security updates are not available broadly yet, Intel said that it recently finished the validations and started to release microcode for newer CPU platforms. Microsoft today announced that it will roll out the Intel microcode updates for some Skylake devices running the latest version of Windows 10 through the Microsoft Update Catalog, KB4090007 initially. It also said that it will offer additional microcode updates from Intel as they become available and will continue to work with chipset and device makers as they offer more vulnerability mitigations. LG and Huawei backed out from announcing their flagships at the MWC 2018 earlier this week. However, according to a report from Ynet, the company is said to have showcased the upcoming LG flagship in a private conference at the MWC 2018 event. Going by the flake and how viral the video has become in the short period of time, we might actually be looking at the G7 indeed. It’s not even been 6 months since the launch of the iPhone X and the Android world has completely latched on to the fad. The newest to join the notch life is the Asus Zenfone 5Z. Bezels are effectively non existent along the sides and just slightly thicker along the bottom. The 18.5:9 aspect ratio makes it very comfortable to grip the large display.
