Xiaomi Mi 5 Android 8.0 Oreo MIUI Global Beta ROM released

Earlier this week, Xiaomi started rolling out Oreo Based MIUI Stable update to its 2017 flagship Mi 6, and with today’s weekly MIUI Beta update company is updating its 2016 flagship Mi 5 to Android Oreo. The new update is based on Android Oreo 8.0 and also brings February security patch to the device. Users need to flash the Oreo based ROM manually even if they are using MIUI Global Beta ROM on their devices as incremental update to MIUI 8.3.1 is still based on Android Nougat 7.0. Users can download the Recovery ROM here and flash it using updater method or download the Fastboot ROM to flash it using fastboot method. The company is recommending users to do a clean fastboot flash as the ROM contains an Android upgrade. In case you do not wish to go through the hassle of taking backup and flashing ROM, you can wait for a couple of weeks as company will eventually roll out Oreo to all users via OTA.
