HMD Global, the makers of Nokia-branded smartphones, in partnership with Greenwave Systems and local operators, is dipping their toes into a new service category with the launch of the HMD Connect global data roaming service. It is a SIM based global data service that will provide a roaming data connection in over 120 countries at launch with a starting price of 9.95€ (Approx. Rs. 801). The service is currently in Beta on HMDConnect.com and is designed to give a hassle-free, secure and affordable roaming service across the world. Users who sign up will receive a SIM card delivered to their home and will be required to pay a base price of 9.95€ (Approx. Rs. 801) for activation. Once activated, the plan will be valid for 14 days. Within that time period, if the user finishes their data cap, they can pay an extra 5€ for an upgrade, similar to a pay-as-you-go service. The amount of data that the user will receive will depend on the region of activation.
