HUAWEI Nova 6 5G with dual punch-hole display, 105° ultra-wide front camera to be announced on December 5 [Update: New images]

Update: HUAWEI has posted official renders of the Nova 6 5G that shows the phone's dual punch-hole screen with minimal bezels, and triple rear cameras that includes a telephoto lens with OIS. It has also started pre-bookings for the phone in China. After rumors, HUAWEI has finally confirmed that it will introduce Nova 6 5G, the company's new flagship Nova series phone at an event in China on December 5th, few days after it introduces HUAWEI Mate Pad series later this month. The new teaser confirms dual punch-hole front cameras, and one of the cameras will let you capture 105-degree wide-angle selfies, and a main camera will have selfie super night scene 2.0, and it could use 32-megapixel sensor. The phone will come with 5G SA/NSA dual mode support. TENAA and 3C certified revealed 40W HUAWEI SuperCharge, and 4G and 5G models, powered by Kirin 990 and Kirin 990 5G SoCs. Vivo schedules an event in India on December 9, Vivo V17 with punch-hole display expected

Vivo recently announced the 'Vivo V17' smartphone in Russia with Super AMOLED+ display, quad rear cameras, and more. Now, Vivo India has scheduled an event in India on December 9 where the company is expected to launch the Vivo V17 smartphone. The media invite sent by Vivo reads "Save The Date 9.12.19" along with the hashtag "ClearAsReal", and this tagline was used for the launch of Vivo V17 Pro as well. Panasonic sells semiconductor business due to massive losses

Panasonic has reported that it is selling its loss making semiconductor division to a midsize Taiwanese company, with the US-China trade being the final reason for the business's failure. The company had entered the market in 1952, became the top chip manufacturer in 1980's and 1990's but now struggles to control its losses. The company reported an operating loss of approximately $215 million for the last fiscal year. Since the US-China Trade war, it has been struggling to recoup losses from the low demand of products in the semiconductor business. The semiconductor chipmaker made a variety of chips ranging from micro-controllers, NFC tags, image sensors, etc. The buyer is Nuvoton, a subsidiary of Taiwanese specialty memory chip maker Winbond, makes microcontrollers, controllers, and audio- and power-related chips. The company reported a 27% drop in operating profit too, reducing to almost 300 Billion Yen. As a result, Panasonic is also rumoured to exit the Liquid Crystal Display market in 2o21 as part of a broader campaign to end loss-making businesses. Source

OPPO Reno3 Pro 5G with no-notch display, 7.7mm glass body teased ahead of December announcement

OPPO launched the Reno 2 smartphone in India back in August this year and the company is already all set to launch the successor to Reno3 next month. Now, OPPO has also posted teaser of the Pro version of the Reno3 - OPPO Reno3 Pro 5G revealing the design of the smartphone. According to the image posted by OPPO Mobile Vice President, the Reno3 Pro 5G will sport a no-notch display with curved edges, glass body with 7.7mm thickness excluding the lens. Although the image doesn't reveal the front camera, OPPO could either include a pop-up camera or in-screen camera to the top-left, as usual or surprise everyone by including an under-screen camera too. Flipkart to launch Nokia branded ‘Made in India’ Smart TVs with JBL audio on December 5

Update: Flipkart has started sending invites for the launch of Nokia Smart TV in India on December 5th. It has also started teasing the TV on its website. Flipkart has announced that it has entered into a strategic relationship with Nokia for Nokia branded Smart TVs in India, a global first for the brand in the TV category. Flipkart will manufacture, distribute and manage the end-to-end go-to-market strategy of the TVs to help create thousands of new jobs in the country as a part of 'Make in India' initiative. Flipkart recently launched Motorola branded smart TVs in India. The Nokia branded Smart TVs will feature superior audio quality powered by JBL’s sound program, an initiative by HARMAN to expand the uses of its audio expertise further. JBL by HARMAN, known for high-quality audio equipment will be its first foray into the television space in India. Twitter pauses inactive account deletion after strong feedback from users

Just yesterday, Twitter had reported that they will be removing inactive accounts from its site for users who haven't logged in more than 6 months. But after receiving a ton of feedback from the user base in regards to user accounts of those who are dead, Twitter has decided to pause the inactive account removal process. At the moment, Twitter has no method of memorialising an account after a user died. Facebook is known to have had this feature for a long time now. This basically allowed the user account to be continued as a memory account, managed by a close relative or friend of the user. Twitter never had this feature. When Twitter announced that they will be purging accounts that have not been signed into for more than 6 months, there was a lot of backlash from the community in regards as to what would happen to the accounts of their deceased loved ones. This impacts accounts in the EU only, for now. We’ve always had an inactive account policy but we haven’t enforced it consistently. Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy S9 Android 10 One UI 2.0 beta starts rolling out in India

After Galaxy S10 series and the Note 10 series, Samsung has started rolling out beta version of One UI 2.0, the next major One UI update based on Android 10 for its last year's flagship Galaxy Note 9 and S9 series in India. This brings Clean and easy-to-use interface with minimized pop-ups, New, smarter layout for a visually comfortable experience, enhanced Dark Mode, Focus Mode, Intuitive Device Care menu and more. How to join the  beta program? Download the Samsung Members application from Galaxy Store or the Google Play Store. After logging in, go to Notices and select “One UI Beta Program Registration” to submit an application. Once signed up, go to Settings and then Software update to select the Download and install option. This will allow the software to update and load the beta version. WhatsApp brings Call waiting, new chat design and updated Braille keyboard for iPhone users

iPhone users will now receive new updates for WhatsApp, bringing welcome features like call waiting, a redesigned chat screen and improvements to the Braille Keyboard. The update comes directly to the stable version of WhatsApp along with the group privacy features that were released earlier this month. The highlight feature for in this update is the new call waiting support. Earlier users who were on a WhatsApp call would not be able to receive any other call through WhatsApp. Now, with call waiting support, users who are on a call already, if called by another contact, will receive a notification that enables to switch to the new call immediately or remain in the current call. Twitter has reported that they will be removing inactive accounts on its site if the user does not sign in to their account by December 11th. Users who haven't signed into their accounts for more than 6 months will receive an email from Twitter with information about this decision. Apple supplier Salcomp buys defunct Nokia Chennai Plant, to invest $300 million in five years

It has been over 5 years since Nokia's Sriperumbudur plant shut down production due to a tax dispute. Now, Finnish based firm Salcomp, manufacturer of chargers/adapters for mobile phones and other electronics for companies like Apple, has bought the defunct plant for about Rs. 215 crores. Salcomp plans to begin operations at the plant by March next year, and ramp up exports from there to about $2 billion by investing $300 million over the next five years. Salcomp already operates two units in the Sriperumbudur SEZ zone having close to 7000 employees with the new factory said to add over 10000 jobs. Apple's components is about 60% in the 1.1 million sq ft plant — and the balance would be for others including Foxconn, Xiaomi, Vivo and OPPO, according to ET report. These decisions add to the larger strategy of Apple in expanding production in India for the local and global markets. Google Shopping to integrate Translate and Google My Business early next year for Indian users

Google has introduced new integrations for the Google Shopping experience for Indian users, namely Google My Business and Google Translate integration. These changes are aimed at making Google Shopping more accessible for new small to medium businesses and non English speaking Indian users. With a majority of shopping in India still happening offline, Google aims to change that by make it easier for local retailer to create an online store through Google My Business. Retailers will be able to connect with the millions of shoppers searching for their products online by posting photos of their in-store products, which Google will automatically connect as product listings on Search and in the Google Shopping tab. Google is also integrating Translate into their Shopping tab as well as the Shopping home page for Indian languages. Google claims that almost 500 million non-English-speaking users will come online and that the Google Translate integration will enable them to more easily find products in their own language. Translation will also be taken care of from the merchants side seamlessly.
