Netflix is testing Instagram-like ‘Extras’ feed for photos and videos
Video on demand service Netflix introduced new additions like weekly subscription plans, high-quality audio for TV viewers and more. Now, new reports suggest that Netflix has started testing a dedicated 'Extras' feed that will aggregate photos, trailers, photos, and alerts for upcoming shows in an Instagram-like fashion. Netflix has started testing a new feed called 'Extras' in its app with a closed group of users. The feed looks and functions similar to Instagram feed where users can see trailers, photos, alerts for upcoming shows and more. The photos in the feed can be scrolled horizontally and the videos in the feed will play automatically, without sound. The trailers don't play in full-length, and users have to click through to a show. If this sounds familiar, the working is similar to Instagram's feed and also YouTube's 'Autoplay on Home' feature. The 'Extras' feed also recommends users to share the recommended shows, photos, etc. through third-party apps and also add titles to their list. The feed can be accessed by a dedicated button and it does not replace any of the app's other elements.
