Samsung Exynos Auto 8890 to power in-vehicle infotainment system in new Audi A4 and upcoming models

Samsung Electronics today announced that its Exynos Auto 8890 processor will be powering German automobile manufacturer Audi’s third generation high-spec modular infotainment platform (MIB). The advanced in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) system will be equipped as standard in the new A4 and upcoming models. The Exynos Auto 8890 is an Octa-Core CPU which is a combination of Quad-core 1st gen custom CPU and Quad-core Cortex-A53 and is built on the 14nm FinFET process. It has a 12 core Mali -T880 as GPU, LPDD4 RAM, eMMC 5.0, UFS 2.0 storage and supports a maximum of 3 displays at WQUXGA 3840 x 2400 resolution. It can support up to 4 cameras with 4K UHD 60fps encoding and 85fps decoding. The modular infotainment platform(MIB) on the other hand is Audi's third-generation technology and was selected for Audi’s next-generation IVI system in 2017 through Audi’s Progressive SemiConductor Program (PSCP). It was first introduced in Audi A4 and now, the latest generation of the MIB will incorporate Samsung’s Exynos Auto 8890 and power the new Audi A4 and upcoming models.
