WhatsApp data backups no longer be counted against Google Drive storage limit
WhatsApp today announced that starting November 12, 2018, WhatsApp backups will no longer count towards the Google Drive storage quota and also the WhatsApp backups that haven't been updated in more than one year will be automatically removed from Google Drive storage. The company is also recommending users to back up WhatsApp data before November 12, 2018, manually, to avoid the loss of any backups. If you are someone who sends and receives a lot of data through WhatsApp and backs up large amounts of WhatsApp data, you would surely appreciate the extra storage space that is excluded. This move comes right after the announcement of Google One that is now publicly available in the U.S. Google One is a consolidation of all of Google’s subscription services, including Google Drive, Google Photos, and Gmail. Since the announcement comes into effect after November 12, 2018, so, make sure to manually back up your data before the deadline so you won’t lose any of your data. Source
