Xiaomi announced Redmi Note 5 along with Redmi Note 5 Pro running on MIUI 9.2 based on Android 7.1 (Nougat) in India back in February. Redmi Note 5 Pro has been the talk of the town since its launch, but Redmi Note 5 (Also called Redmi 5 Plus in global markets including China) is not so popular as compared to Redmi Note 5 Pro. Even the company focused more on Redmi Note 5 Pro as company spokesperson confirmed Android Oreo 8.1 update for Redmi Note 5 Pro but didn’t mention anything regarding Redmi Note 5 update. Xiaomi recently updated Redmi Note 5 Pro to Android Oreo 8.1 with MIUI 9.5 update which supports full-screen gestures. Redmi Note 5 received MIUI 9.5 update couple of months back but it was based on Android Nougat 7.1.2. As per our sources, Xiaomi is planning to roll out Android Oreo 8.1 for Redmi Note 5 and it is expected to be introduced with MIUI 10 Global ROM update.
