Apple shutting down Texture’s Windows magazine app on June 30
Apple had acquired the Next Issue Media LLC’s digital magazine service Texture back in March and it is also said to be planning to launch a News subscription service in 2019. Today the company announced that it is shutting down Texture’s Windows magazine app at the end of June. Texture is informing its users about the shutdown this week through emails and a note inside the app. The message reads, "this app will stop working and will no longer be available in the Microsoft Store.” However, the support for Android, Amazon Fire, and iOS apps will continue. With Texture's windows app not seeing any update for quite some time, this move is a long time coming. Since Texture is not available on the web, subscribers might have to pick another compatible device to continue using Texture services. It might be possible that Apple would create a cross-platform way to access all of the content it distributes, but for now, there is no news on such service just yet. Texture in a note on its website said: To keep things working smoothly, older versions of the app sometimes need to be retired.
