Samsung Galaxy S8 Active with Android 8.0 Oreo gets Wi-Fi certification

Samsung ended the Android Oreo 8.0 beta testing for the S8 and the S8+ last week and both the flagships are expected to taste the Oreo update anytime now. It's obvious that the update at some point will make its way to the S8 Active as the company promised earlier. However, the new development shows that the rollout is not that far away. The Oreo powered Samsung Galaxy S8 Active has been spotted in a certification listing at the Wi-Fi Alliance. Though the update might not be imminent once Oreo lands for the S8 and S8+, but the new development indicates that the wheels are in motion. Since the S8 Active is a carrier exclusive device which also happens to be a non-AT&T exclusive model, the carrier testing takes a sweet amount of time before the rollout begins. Both variants; the SM-G892A for AT&T and SM-G892U for T-Mobile and Sprint have been listed for certification at the Wi-Fi Alliance with Android 8.0 Oreo onboard. As we said, this doesn't mean that the update will be rolling out soon, but it's just a confirmation. Source 1, 2 | Via
