Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 Kitkat Firmware Update - Guide

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was launched with 4.2 Jelly Bean OS out of box and today Android 4.4.2 is the latest version. The much needed Kitkat love is now available on your device which is coupled with Galaxy Gear.

We will be going through update instructions in this guide but before that some pre upgrade requirements.
  • You will also have to root your Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to prepare it for Android 4.4.2 Kitkat upgrade.
  • Just before beginning to upgrade your Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to Android 4.4.2 Kitkat don’t forget to backup your information, as contacts, text messages and the apps installed from Google Play Store who maybe lost when the installation finishes.
  • USB debugging should be enabled on your device.
Now let’s see how to update Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to Android 4.4.2 Kitkat -
  1. Download Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 Firmware package to your PC first.
  2. Install the ROM Manager on your Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Get it from Google Play Store, then install the clockwork mod recovery.
  3. Connect your Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to your PC employing the USB information cable. Copy the “Samsung Galaxy Note 3_4.4.2 Kitkat.zip” file you downloaded to the SD memory card.
  4. Restart your device in the recovery mode using ROM Manager. As soon as in Recovery Mode, go to ROM Manager and select backup / restore to back-up your information.
  5. From the Recovery Menu do a total data erase (including Delvik Cache).
  6. When completed, Go back to Recovery Menu and choose Flash ROM from SD Card. Navigate the location you copied the ”Samsung Galaxy Note 3_4.4 Kitkat.zip” file and follow the directions for installing Android 4.4.2 Kitkat on your Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
  7. Once done hit "Reboot system now" to boot your device normally.
As soon as the installation is over, just reboot your Samsung Galaxy Note 3 device, and here you go, you’ve just upgraded it to the new Android 4.4.2 Kitkat.
