OPPO Ace2 5G with 6.5-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, Snapdragon 865, up to 12GB RAM to be announced on April 13

After rumors OPPO has officially confirmed that it will introduce the Ace2 5G, the company's new 5G smartphone in China on April 13th. This comes after the Reno Ace that was introduced back in October last year. On weibo, in an open letter OPPO VP Brian Shen said that the Reno Ace, the first generation of OPPO Ace series phone was introduced 180 days back featuring the first 65W super flash charge fast charging along with 90Hz refresh rate screen. Now the company is ready to bring Ace2 , which will be independent of the Reno series. The phone got certified by TENAA recently revealing the specifications of the phone. 3C certification has confirmed the same phone with model number PDHM00 with support for fast charging up to 65W, same as the predecessor. Zhang Jialiang, head of OPPO’s VOOC Flash Charge division confirmed that the company's 40W wireless fast charging tech will be available commercially this year, so we can expect this in Ace2. Online music streaming services crossed 350 million subscribers in 2019, up 32% YoY: Report

The online music streaming services in the world enjoyed a good year in 2019, with the number of paid subscribers growing by 32% YoY, crossing 350 million. Driving this growth was exclusive content offerings like podcasts and originals, price cuts in subscriptions in emerging markets and bundled offers from telecommunication companies. The top three companies globally continue to be Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Prime Music. Spotify claimed a share of 31% share of the total revenue and a 35% share of the total paid subscriptions while Apple Music's subscription base grew by 36% YoY. Amazon Prime Music accounted for 15% of market share in 2019, growing from the 10% it had in 2018. While global companies did well, regional companies did extremely well too. For example, Gaana remains at number one in India, Yandex Music topping in Russia, Anghani leading in the Arab countries and Tencent Music Group leads the Chinese market. Both global and regional companies are focussing on producing original content and podcasts as a way of keeping its customers as paid subscribers. Redmi K30 Pro Zoom Edition gets 12GB RAM + 512GB Storage version

Xiaomi's Redmi brand introduced the Redmi K30 Pro 5G smartphone in China last month in normal and zoom edition with the latter featuring 30x digital zoom. Today the company has 12GB (LPDDR5 RAM) + 512GB (UFS 3.1) storage version of the zoom edition at 4499 yuan (US$ 634 / Rs. 49,060 approx.) making it the top-end version in the K30 Pro series. Apple acquires AI startup Voysis in a bid to improve Siri

Apple's voice assistant, Siri often falls short in functionality and natural language processing capabilities when compared to the Google Assistant. In a bid to improve Siri's shortcomings, Apple has decided to acquire Voysis, which is a company that has developed an AI based platform for digital voice assistants to understand natural language. Voysis is a company that is based in Ireland and until now, has been working on improving voice assistants for online shopping apps. The company developed its platform an on AI-based method called Wavenets, which was first by Google's DeepMind back in 2016. It allowed the program to work on a really small amount of memory once it was trained, as little as 25MB. Although Apple has not stated clearly their intentions for buying Voysis, it wouldn't be a stretch to guess that they want to use Voysis's research to improve Siri's natural language processing capabilities. Google Phone app may get Flip to Silence gesture soon

With the launch of the Pixel 3, Google introduced a gesture of flipping the phone on to its screen to enter a 'Do Not Disturb (DND) mode. Now, with Google Phone 47 beta, they appear to be testing a more traditional use for the same gesture: silencing incoming calls. Along with this, Google is also testing a feature to answer a call with 1-way video. When initially released, the feature called "Flip to Shhh" to turn on DND mode was exclusive to the Pixel 3. However, Google introduced it more phones via Digital Wellbeing later on. In an APK teardown of the new Google Phone app, new text and a basic setting screen for the "Flip to silence" feature can be seen. It also seems to be linked to the "Flip to shhh" of Digital Wellbeing, indicating that Google may combine the two features somehow. iOS 14 code hints at home screen widget support and new wallpaper settings

Apple has been working on redesigning its wallpaper settings for its upcoming iOS 14 for quite a while now. In a supposed new leak, twitter user DongleBookPro has tweeted images of the new iOS wallpaper settings panel and its implementation. In iOS 14's code, as explained by 9to5Mac, default wallpapers appear to be separated by collections. Some of the available organisation include “Classic Stripes”, “Earth & Moon”, and “Flowers”. This will help users scroll through each collection to find their specific wallpaper instead of scrolling through the entire list. Another option that is available right below it is "Home Screen Appearance" which appears to let users choose a smart dynamic wallpaper that can be used for the home screen alone. The various options include flat colour, a blurry one and a dark version based on the current wallpaper. According to another code leak, Apple also seems to be working on a better implementation of Home Screen widgets.
