Facebook launches Messenger desktop app for Windows and macOS

It is video chatting season for everyone in quarantine and with Zoom rising to popularity, Facebook has decided to enter the fray with a desktop app for its Messenger, both for macOS and Windows. It features group videos calls, chat sync across, dark mode and more. One of the difficulties with most group chatting apps is the complexity involved in just inviting everyone into the chat. With nearly everyone, including family and friends on Facebook, it is definitely easier to connect with them as they will likely have a Messenger account by default. And since it is a desktop app, you can continue running it in the background, while doing other things on your desktop. There are push notifications support (which is not a surprise), and it can be muted or snoozed on a per chat basis. Chats will naturally be synced across all devices and the Facebook has also added support for Dark Mode, GIFs emoji. Apple’s 2020 4.7-inch iPhone could be called iPhone SE (2020); launch imminent

Earlier this week, a report surfaced that Apple could announce the iPhone 9/iPhone SE 2 on April 15th, 2020 and the sales could begin on April 22md, 2020. Government of India launches ArogyaSetu app to track COVID-19 infection

The Government of India has launched AarogyaSetu mobile app developed in public-private partnership to enable people to assess themselves the risk for their catching the Coronavirus infection. The app tracks through a Bluetooth and GPS generated social graph and your interaction with someone who could have tested COVID-19 positive. Once installed, the app detects other devices with AarogyaSetu installed that come in the proximity of that phone. The app can then calculate the risk of infection based on sophisticated parameters if any of these contacts is tested positive. The Government says that this will help them take necessary timely steps for assessing risk of spread of COVID-19 infection, and ensuring isolation where required. You need to give permission for Bluetooth, location and data sharing to use this app, however personal data collected by the app is encrypted and stays secure on the phone till it is needed for facilitating medical intervention, says the government. Today it has released 1.1.1.1 for Families. As the name says, the new DNS resolver is for home networks to protect your devices from security threats and block adult content from being accessed by their kids.
