OnePlus phones to get Always-On-Display (AOD) feature finally
Quite lately, OnePlus has been teasing a lot of things, including its upcoming OnePlus 8 series smartphone. Recently, the company has announced that it will be adding always-on display (AOD) to its smartphones. The top IDEA is Always-On Display. We hear you, and our OS Product team has replied: it's on our roadmap. — OnePlus (@oneplus) March 27, 2020 This official announcement was made on the company's official Twitter handle. As per the company claims, always-on-display is one of the highly requested features by the customer for a while now. Notably, in its IDEAS portal dedicated to user suggestions, AOD gained a maximum number of votes. For the uninitiated, Always On Display is a feature, where the display features a clock and some notifications on the screen when the phone is idle. However, the company is concerned about the decrease in battery life, even though the feature has been optional on many smartphones. According to OnePlus, the company is 'fine-tuning' the feature following power consumption tests. They have mentioned: Hi, everyone, an update on this IDEA. Initial power consumption tests have been passed, and it is now on our roadmap! We are working on fine-tuning AOD to make sure it is perfectly optimized. Do keep an ...

Apple’s 2021 Mac lineup may have ARM-based processors, USB4 support in 2020
For a few years, many analysts have predicted that Apple is working towards releasing an ARM-based version of their popular Mac devices, considering how powerful its 'A series' SoCs have become. Now, well known Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo has noted that 2020 Macs from later on may finally have Apple's in-house ARM based processors powering it. Having their in-house processors powering their Macs will free Apple from Intel's processor cycle refresh. Having it made in-house will also reduce the cost of processor development by 30 to 40 percent. Along with these two advantages, Apple will be able to differentiate better between Windows laptops. These laptops are expected to arrive either during the Q4 2020 or Q1 2021. Another rumour that is floating around is that Apple will integrate USB 4, whose specification was released in September 2019, into its 2022 Macs. USB4 will be based on Intel's Thunderbolt technology, which was recently made royalty free by Intel themselves. ASMedia Technology is expected to be the sole supplier for USB controllers for these ARM based Macs, according to Kuo. Source

iOS VPN vulnerability leaves user network traffic exposed
The folks over at ProtonVPN have discovered a vulnerability in iOS 13.4 (exists since 13.3.1) which will prevent VPN's from encrypting all traffic that is going through the user's iPhone, causing some internet connections to bypass the VPN server and thus possibly exposing the user to data leaks and attacks. ProtonVPN is a popular VPN service and a member in their community first discovered the bug and reported it. ProtonVPN had submitted the bug to Apple, who then acknowledged it. The reason for the bug lies in the way iOS deals with reconnections. Once a VPN tunnel is established, iOS is supposed to reroute and reconnect all existing connection through the tunnel, but it doesn't do so. It leaves behind the old connection as it is and only re-routes new connections through the VPN tunnel. Typically connections only last for a few seconds, but some connections may last for minutes or hours. A good example given by ProtonVPN is push notifications, whose connections to Apple servers won't close automatically. During this time, a user's IP address and other data can be intercepted. Apple has promised a fix in an upcoming software update, but in the meantime, ProtonVPN has suggested a way to increase ...
