Xiaomi Mi 10 India launch event postponed

Last week Xiaomi announced the launch of its flagship Mi 10 smartphone in India on March 31st after it was introduced in China last month. Today the Xiaomi India head and VP Manu Jain has announced that the event will be postponed to later date due to the current situation in the country. Even realme and vivo have postponed their smartphone launch events that were supposed to take place this week in India. Samsung ships one million 10nm EUV DRAM modules

Samsung, the leader at memory chips has just announced that they shipped one million units of its 10nm-class (D1x) DDR4 DRAM modules that were manufactured using extreme ultraviolet (EUV) technology. It was previously undergoing global customer evaluations and now will be available for use for premium PC, mobile, enterprise server and datacenter applications. Samsung is the first company to use the Extreme Ultraviolet Technology (EUV) to manufacture DRAM and scale its production. They had to overcome multiple challenges like repetitive steps in multi-patterning and improving patterning accuracy, with the result of achieving enhanced performance and greater yields. Samsung has also stated that they will begin volume production of D1a-based DDR5 and LPDDR5 next year. Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note10 series to get Single Take, Night Hyperlapse, Pro Video and more features

Samsung already said that it will release One UI 2.1 for existing Galaxy S10 and the Galaxy Note 10 smartphones to bring new features that was already available for Galaxy S20 series, but it has announced that it has already started rolling out these feature in an update for the phones. YouTube to set Standard definition quality as default worldwide

Just two days ago, most majors streaming and social media companies decided to lower their content streaming quality in the European Union, in an effort to prevent internet gridlock. Now, YouTube has announced that it will make Standard Definition (480p) as the default for streaming content worldwide, including India (until April 14). To be clear, YouTube is not completely removing High Definition streaming from its platform. It is only making Standard definition as the default. Users who wish to stream in higher quality will have the option to do so manually. Initially, YouTube had only implemented this in the EU, but now they have announced that they will be making this change for all countries worldwide. At the moment, other companies like Netflix, Prime, etc. have already lowered their streaming bit rate in the EU. In India, the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has already requested major OTT services to reduce their quality to ensure India's internet infrastructure doesn't get overloaded yet. Apple releases macOS Catalina 10.15.4 with Screen Time communication limits, real-time Apple Music lyrics view and more

Apple has released a new update to macOS Catalina, bringing the version to 10.15.4. The update brings Screen Time Communication Limits that was originally introduced for iPhone with iOS 13.3 update that allow parents to put limits on who children can contact through FaceTime, Phone, Messages, and iCloud Contacts. The Head Pointer Accessibility option allows the mouse cursor to be controlled with head movements using the Mac's camera and the update also brings real-time lyrics for Apple Music that allow lyrics for a song to scroll by in real-time to the music so you can follow along with what's being sung. It also brings iCloud Folder Sharing directly from Finder. The update size comes out to about 3GB and is available for download for eligible devices. Apple releases iOS 13.4 and iPadOS 13.4 with new Memoji stickers, Files app iCloud Folder Sharing, Trackpad Support for iPad and more

Apple released iOS 13 at the WWDC event last year, and in December it released iOS 13.3. Now it has released iOS 13.4 and iPadOS 13.4 with major set of features, including nine new Memoji and Animoji stickers that includes emoji-style poses like shocked face, face with hearts, eyes rolling, iCloud Drive folder sharing from the Files app, new toolbar in the Mail app with updated design featuring a more logical layout. The iPadOS 13.4 update also adds trackpad support for the iPad offering greater precision and improved navigation. This comes ahead of the May release of Apple's new Magic Keyboard that works with 2018 and 2020 iPad Pro. Realme Narzo 10 and Narzo 10A sale postponed, online launch on schedule on March 26

Last week realme confirmed that the Narzo 10 and Narzo 10A smartphones will launch in India on March 26th on Flipkart. Amazon Prime Video profiles rolling out widely, lets you add up to six user profiles

Amazon started rolling out Prime Video profiles feature to select users last week, now it is started rolling out widely. This new feature is similar to Netflix that lets you add up to six user profiles (1 default profile + 5 additional profiles either adult or Kids) within Prime Video on a single Amazon account with content personalized separately to each profile. Each profile will have separate recommendations, watch history, season progress and watch list based on individual profile activity. For me the profiles feature first appeared on the Prime Video website, and later on the Android app after a few tries. Amazon says that Prime Video profiles are currently available in selected countries only, but it is rolling out in India. Since it is a server side roll out it might take some time to roll out to everyone. Amazon said that the profiles feature will not be available for Alexa devices with a screen. Opera News Lite released for entry-level Android devices

Its been two years since Opera, the same developers for Opera Browser for PC, released its News app for Android. It had become widely popular in multiple regions including Africa and now, Opera has released a Lite version of the app to work better on high-end Android smartphones. The Opera News Lite is designed for devices with limited data storage capabilities and for areas with slow or expensive networks. The app package is about a megabyte in size, which is really convenient for high-end devices. In slow network conditions, the app will remain responsive and continue to deliver content fast. Opera is focusing on African countries with the opening of local data centers in countries like Kenya, Nigeria and other nearby countries, reducing connection latency by a significant amount.
