Google Podcasts update brings auto-download, redesigned interface and more for select users
Being one of the lesser feature-rich podcast apps, Google Podcast has been steadily receiving updates to bring feature parity with other popular podcast applications like Pocket Casts, Spotify, etc. One of the new updates to the app include auto-download of newly released episodes, redesigned UI for better navigation, suggestions and more. The biggest feature in this update is the ability to auto-download new podcast episodes. The feature, which can be found under Settings, had been available for some users for a while and will now be rolling out with the new update. Another feature available is the notifications for your subscriptions where users will be able to select which podcasts they should receive notifications from. Google has also made quite a few changes with app's UI. The bottom bar shows three tabs for the main navigation - Home, Discover and Activity, above which lies the mini player. The "Home" screen shows latest episodes from your subscriptions in a scroll-able carousel and below it lies a list of subscribed episodes with two lines of show notes with the ability to start playback. The Discover tab is straightforward, giving users the ability to search in their library or for new podcasts and the Activity Tab ...
Apple confirms iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 personal hotspot issue
Apple's iOS 13.4 and iPadOS 13.4 is right around the corner as there have been multiple leaks of the new features that they plan to release. In the meantime, they have acknowledged a bug that is currently troubling some Apple users with the personal hotspot feature. Apple notified and confirmed the presence of a bug in the personal hotspot feature to its Apple Authorized Service centers. It apparently causes their devices to be experience frequent disconnections or simply not connect to the hotspot at all. There might also be issues with the data transfer speeds between the host and connected device. OPPO Reno Ace2 with circular rear camera design surfaces in live image
OPPO introduced the Reno Ace smartphone back in October last year. After the Find X2 smartphone was introduced recently, alleged live image of the Reno Ace 2 smartphone has surfaced in China. This shows a circular rear camera arrangement, which is different from the predecessor, and this looks similar to the OnePlus 7T. The image also shows a glass back, bottom-ported speaker grill, but the 3.5mm audio jack is missing, so it could use USB type-C audio. Earlier today an alleged case for the Reno Ace2 smartphone has surfaced. The person who leaked the case expects the phone to retain the 48MP main camera with Sony IMX586 sensor after the company is satisfied with the image quality in the Find X2 and Find X2 Pro that uses the same sensor. The phone will likely feature a AMOLED screen with an in-display fingerprint scanner, and Snapdragon 865 SoC, but it is not clear if the company will move to 120Hz refresh rate from 90Hz in the Reno Ace. The OPPO Reno Ace2 is expected to be introduced sometime in Q2 2020. We should know more details in the coming weeks. Source 1, 2

Netflix, Amazon Prime, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube lower streaming quality in Europe to prevent network overload
With a large number of people in Europe being quarantined and having to work from home in response to the Coronavirus outbreak, the European Union (EU) has requested major streaming services and social media companies to reduce their streaming quality to prevent internet gridlock. These companies include Netflix, Amazon Prime, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. The internet infrastructure of the EU, and most of the world for that matter, was simply not designed to handle the extra traffic and strain that is currently being experienced with the increased number of people at home. More and more people are using internet services to continue their office work, to connect with their loved ones over video or to simply tackle boredom. This has induced a massive strain on the EU network infrastructure. In response to the EU's request, companies are making changes to their streaming quality, bitrates and more. YouTube, for example, is making Standard Definition (480p) as the default for all users. Amazon Prime and Netflix will continue to stream at same resolutions and quality but with a much lower bitrate, with Netflix completely removing its highest bandwidth streams, and reducing quality by 25%. Facebook and Instagram too have committed to temporarily reduce their ...
