Sony Xperia 1 II with 6.5-inch 4K OLED 21:9 CinemaWide display, Snapdragon 865, 5G, Triple rear cameras with ZEISS optics announced
Sony just announced Xperia 1 II (Pronounced Mark 2), the company's latest flagship smartphone and its first 5G smartphone at an online event. It packs the same 6.5-inch 21:9 CinemaWide 4K HDR display offering bright colors with BRAVIA X1 for mobile as the predecessor, but is powered by Snapdragon 865 with 8GB of RAM and has support for sub-6GHz 5G. It packs triple rear cameras that includes 12-megapixel main camera with f/1.7 aperture, OIS, 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, 12-megapixel telephoto lens with OIS for 2x loss-less zoom, and there is also a 3D iToF (indirect Time-of-Flight) sensor. The phone also features ZEISS optics with T* (T-Star) anti-reflective coating to enhance the quality of images and deliver the best photography experience and the company says that it is the world's first smartphone with up to 20fps AF/AE tracking burst and 5G connectivity for a complete creative entertainment experience. The Cinema Pro, powered by CineAlta offers 21:9 Movie recording in 4K HDR that promises best results — even in backlit scenes or low light. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection on the front and the back, side-mounted fingerprint sensor and packs a 4,000mAh battery. Nokia 9 PureView gets a price cut in India, now available for Rs. 34999
HMD Global launched its flagship Nokia 9 PureView smartphone with 12MP penta rear cameras in India back in July last year for Rs. 49,999. Today it has received a massive Rs. 15,000 price cut in India and is available for Rs. 34,999 at new rate from Flipkart and Nokia.com/phones. The phone got Android 10 update back in December last year. To remind you, the penta rear camera arrangement features two RGB and three monochrome lenses to collect up to 10-times the amount of light than a single colour sensor, with ZEISS Optics. Developed in cooperation with multi-sensor camera company Light, it captures HDR shots using five cameras simultaneously with up to 12.4 stops of dynamic range and a full scene 12MP depth map and fuse it together into one 12MP photo with outstanding dynamic range and depth of field to refocus later. It is capable of shooting 60-megapixel images in burst mode and can process up to 240 megapixels of data. Vivo APEX 2020 concept phone to be announced on February 28
Vivo introduced the APEX 2019 concept phone with unibody 3D design without ports or buttons back in January last year. This year the company was supposed to introduce the APEX 2020 at its MWC event, but the GSMA cancelled the event due to coronavirus concerns, so vivo today officially announced that the next-generation APEX concept phone will be introduced on February 28th in Beijing. The upcoming APEX 2020 represents vivo's prediction and layout of mobile phone development and technological innovation in 2020, said the company. It has released the first teaser that shows faintly curved screen side and the number "120" which could be 120Hz screen or something complete different. Another image shows the back of the phone with periscope zoom camera for loss-less zoom. The phone is also rumored to feature under-screen front camera, ultra-fast charging and lots more technological innovations. We should know more details about the phone later this week. Source
Black Shark 3 5G gaming phone with Quad HD+ 120Hz display, Snapdragon 865, 12GB RAM to be announced on March 3
After rumors, Black Shark has confirmed that Black Shark 3 gaming phone will be introduced in an online event in China on March 3rd. Last month the company had announced a partnership with Tencent Games, so the phone will be called the Tencent Black Shark 3. The company also said that this will be the first gaming centric smartphone with 5G support. Last month images of the Black Shark 3 smartphone had surfaced revealing its 120Hz display with option to switch between 60Hz, 90Hz and 120Hz Quad HD or 2K resolution with option to change to 1080p resolution. The phone should be powered by the latest Snapdragon 865 Mobile platform. Last week Black Shark brand manager posted a poll on Weibo revealing 5,000 mAh battery with 65W fast charging that can charge the phone from 0-100% in 38 minutes and can still maintain charge over 800 full cycles. 65W fast charging has also been confirmed by 3C certification in China. Get Android 10 on Redmi Note 8 with DerpFest ROM
Xiaomi’s Redmi unveiled the Redmi Note 8 series in the country back in October running MIUI 10.3 Global Stable on top of Android 9.0 (Pie) and later rolled out MIUI 11 update to both the smartphones. The Pro variant has been the talk of the town since it is superior to the vanilla Redmi Note 8 in every aspect, but Redmi Note 8 has better custom ROM and mods support compared to its Pro sibling, thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC. Redmi Note 8 started receiving Android 10 in China last month but MIUI Global ROM is still based on Android 9, but you can always install a custom ROM to stay on the latest version of Android. realme to launch Smart TVs in India in Q2 2020
Earlier this month realme CEO Francis Wang teased new Smart TVs at its MWC event, but GSMA has cancelled the event, so the company is holding an online event. Today in an interview with Trakin Tech realme India CEO Madhav Seth said that the company will launch several products including smart speakers in the coming months. He also confirmed that it will launch smart TVs in the country in Q2 2020, around April. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip sold out within minutes in India in first day of pre-booking
Samsung started pre-booking for the Galaxy Z Flip in India priced at Rs. 1,09,999 earlier today on Samsung e-shop and select retail stores. Samsung has announced that it was sold out within minutes after the pre-booking opened at 11AM. Offline retail outlets taking pre-orders have also run out of stock. Users were asked to pay the full amount for orders. Buyers from Samsung e-shop will be offered premium white glove delivery in 10 cities, said the company. Consumers, who managed to pre-book the Galaxy Z Flip in India today will start getting deliveries on February 26. It will re-open pre-booking on February 28, and the units will be delivered in March. Apple may allow third-party apps to be set as default in iPhone soon
Till date, in typical Apple fashion, default apps on their iOS platform have always been locked to Apples own pre-installed offerings like Apple Music and Safari. Now, Apple is apparently discussing bringing the walls down a bit and let third party apps to be set as defaults by users. Currently, on iOS, when users open a link, it automatically opens in Safari, even if the user wishes to open them in Google Chrome Firefox. Similarly, when a user needs to share something via mail, Apple defaults to its own Apple Mail app. Apple has blocked the ability to set defaults in iOS, probably to ensure that their apps and services continue to be used. It has however, received quite a bit of backlash in recent times for continuing to be lock this feature. In response, Apple is considering loosening its restrictions on third party apps for third party apps like Spotify and such. It is also considering reducing restriction on its other devices such as the HomePod. Currently, users can only stream music directly on the HomePod via Apple Music, with Spotify and others being blocked.
