Get Android 10 on Redmi Note 7/7S with OxygenOS port
Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 7 smartphone in India last year in February running MIUI 10.2 Global Stable on top of Android 9.0 (Pie) and launched the updated Redmi Note 7S with 48 MP rear camera later in May running MIUI 10.2 Global Stable on top of Android 9.0 (Pie). Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7S share same codename ‘lavender’, MIUI 11 update for both the devices were rolled out in November. Redmi Note 7 started receiving Android 10 in China last month but MIUI Global ROM is still based on Android 9. Redmi Note devices usually have great custom ROM development, and Redmi Note 7 series is not an exception. Oxygen OS is amongst popular Android skin that offers lots of customizations without much bloatware, developers have ported Android 10 based Oxygen OS to Redmi Note 7/7S (lavender). We tried it on our unit and here is our review of the same. Apple patents describes smart home system that can automatically configure itself
The truly smart home future is near as more and more companies invest into technologies that enable seamless smart home experiences. At the moment, the experience is finicky at best, but they may change in the future as an Apple patent posted on February 13th describes a truly smart home that can configure itself without user intervention. At the moment, the smart home space is a mess, with multiple standards, communication protocols and different brands coming with their won designs that are fundamentally incompatible with others. This has led to a lot of confusion and unsatisfactory experiences for users. Apple, a company that is known for its products that "just works", clearly believes in a future that will let users live in a smart home where all devices speak to each other in a seamless manner that enhances the users lives. The patent describes a very complicated system that involves multiple nodes, aggregators, a central brain to process all the incoming information and broadcast the necessary instructions to the required devices. The system would be able to automatically build a floor plan, intelligently understand the purpose of each connected device. A crucial piece of this system is a modular wall panel that could ...
USA temporarily renews HUAWEI General License, but only for 45 days
According to an announcement made by the US Department of Commerce, HUAWEI will be allowed to continue operation in its network communication systems for another 45 days compared to 90 days usually. This Temporary General License (TGL) was extending to give rural telecommunication providers more time to identify alternatives to HUAWEI for future operation. It seems as though telecommunication companies in the US are struggling to find other secure network alternatives to HUAWEI, especially rural companies. The Department of Commerce had already extended TGL's in the past, the most recent one being in November which extended the license for another 90 days. During this time, HUAWEI and foreign affiliates will not be allowed to acquire any American technology or used in a manner that undermines U.S. national security or foreign policy interests. HUAWEI was added on to the Entity list last year by the USA Department of Commerce. The reason provided by the US government was that they concluded the company posed a significant risk of involvement in activities that compromised national security or foreign policy interests of the United States. These conclusions were made after multiple reports arose claiming that HUAWEI gave a backdoor access in its network infrastructure to the Chinese government ...
Telegram v5.15 update brings redesigned profiles, fast media viewer and more
Telegram has added yet another update to its instant messaging app, bringing the version count to v5.15. It brings a few features to enhance the user experience like a better profile viewer design, better media browsing, more moving emoji and an updated People Nearby 2.0. With the new profile design, users can quickly swipe down to see the entire profile picture and also see the shared media below, neatly organised into photos, videos and links. Accessing shared media between users is quicker now than ever before. Another update to the media browsing experience is the ability to tap the left/right part of the screen to go back/forward. This eliminates the need for users to swipe over their screen to browse media. We are not sure as to who asked for this feature. However, it just gives the user more UI controls, so we can't complain. The next update is to an existing feature in the app called People Nearby 2.0. Last year, Telegram added the ability to help users easily exchange contact information when they are face-to-face. With People Nearby 2.0, users can turn on a setting to let anyone in the nearby vicinity to be able to find them and send messages, even ...
