Macbook’s performance could get better with ‘Pro Mode’

Macbooks of the future may get more performance out of its hardware as code found in the latest macOS 10.15.3 beta hints at something called 'Pro Mode'. The code shows a toggle for the 'Pro Mode' in the macOS power management system that users can use to temporarily have 'Apps run faster'. Seeing that the code was spotted in the macOS power management system, it can be assumed this will have something to do with ignoring some of the power restrictions that are built in the macOS currently. Lines in the code indicate that when the feature is enabled, users will see a decrease in battery life and increase in fan noise. This is expected as the system will use more power for the performance and will need to ramp up fans to prevent the system from thermal throttling. The new feature will behave similar to Do Not Disturb in that the mode will be turned off automatically the next day. The code also hints that the toggle will be available only to the Macbooks with the new thermal design, that is found on the latest 16 inch Macbooks. And Apple recently registered new models of the Macbook with the screen size ...

Next generation Apple Pencil may support more touch gestures including swiping, etc.

With the Apple Pencil 2, Apple introduced a double tap control interface that enabled secondary functions in supported apps for the iPad Pro. Now, according to a new patent filed by Apple, they may be introducing more gestures and swipe capabilities with the addition of new touch sensors in the next generation Pencil. The patent, filed on January 9th, details the various types of ways the new Pencil can detect user movements. The reason for this new design is to provide more control to the user as it is unlikely that the user will use the touch screen on the iPad when using the Pencil. According to it, the Pencil will be able to 'distinguish between tactile inputs from a user and disregard sustained tactile inputs that are provided while the user simply holds the stylus at the user's natural grip location.' In its diagrams, Apple also reveals the design will be able to detect swipes and also know when the user has lifted their fingers of the surface. To achieve these functionalities, the pencil will contain a "low profile" sensor, such as a capacitive sensing device, added. The sensor will be located near the natural resting position when a user holds ...
