Samsung shipped over 6.7 million 5G smartphones globally in 2019, Galaxy Tab S6 5G coming in Q1 2020
Samsung has announced that it has shipped over it shipped more than 6.7 million Galaxy 5G smartphones globally that includes Galaxy S10 5G, Note10 5G, Note10+ 5G, Galaxy A90 5G and Galaxy Fold 5G. It added that as of November 2019, Samsung accounted for 53.9% of the global 5G smartphone market globally. Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 5G, which will be available in Korea in the first quarter of 2020, will be the world’s first 5G tablet. Samsung said that it will continue to lead the market in 5G innovation by introducing new advancements that will improve the speed, performance and security of Galaxy 5G devices this year. Commenting on the same, TM Roh, President and Head of Research and Development at IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics, said: Consumers can’t wait to experience 5G and we are proud to offer a diverse portfolio of devices that deliver the best 5G experience possible. Airtel launches 4G and 2G services in 26 villages in Ladakh region

It seems as though Reliance industries is trying to enter every aspect of the lives of Indians. They have just announced Jiomart, a web portal to buy food and groceries online, launching sometime early this year, beginning in three places; Navi Mumbai, Thane and Kalyan. The venture is not designed to be a direct market to consumers for groceries, rather be a last-mile connection to neighbourhood stores and consumers. The app will behave as an aggregator where it will partner local grocers and equip them with points of sale (PoS) terminals, low interest working capital, inventory management skills, and GST compliance. On their website, pre registrations are open for the service with discounts up to Rs. 3000 savings at launch. They are also promising free home delivery with no minimum order value, a no questions asked return policy with over 50000+ grocery products. Airtel launches new Rs. 379 plan with truly unlimited calls, 84 days validity
Airtel has launched new Rs. 379 plan that offers truly unlimited calls and 84 days validity, but this doesn't offer daily data, instead users only get 6GB of data and 900 SMS. It also includes Airtel Xstream App Premium, Wynk Music and cashback on FASTag. This is similar to Vodafone's plan that offer similar benefits at the same cost, but with 1000 SMS. Reliance Jio offers the plan at Rs. 329, but it only offers Jio to Jio Unlimited calling, and bundles Jio to Non-Jio FUP of 3000 minutes. In addition, Airtel has also launched a new Rs. 279 plan with truly unlimited calling, 1.5 GB/day, 100 SMS/day with 28 days validity, which is similar to Rs. 248 / 249 plan that was launched last month, but this includes Rs 4 Lakh Life Insurance cover from HDFC Life in addition to Airtel Xstream App Premium, Wynk Music subscription and cashback on FASTag. These plans are available for recharge on Airtel website, app and other methods. Airtel recently revised its Rs. 558 prepaid plan that now offers 56 days validity instead of 82 days that was offered prior to tariff revision.

Telegram, one of the best, feature rich mass messaging apps has released a new update that brings along a bunch of new features for both iOS and Android users. The update also comes with a security feature called verifiable builds that allow users to independently verify cross check code on GitHub with the app downloaded from the App Store or Play Store. With the new update comes the Theme Editor 2.0 that has the ability to create more personal custom themes. Samsung TVs to receive 8K certification from the 8K Association
Samsung Electronics has partnered with the 8K Association (8KA) to create and receive its certification from a new program that aims to distinguish 8K-enabled televisions and other devices. Samsung 8K TV's will one of the first in the industry to meet this standard which involves various criteria like resolution, brightness and contrast, ports, etc. The 8K Association, which includes founding members like Samsung, Panasonic, TCL, etc., aims to educate and guide consumers on the upcoming 8K TVs that will be released in the coming years. The 8K certification program will require the TV to include a display resolution reaching 7680 x 4320 or more, peak brightness greater than 600 nits, image transmission of HDMI2.1 and high efficiency video codec (HVEC). Although LG electronics is not part of this association, they were recently in the news for having certified their upcoming 8K TV with the 8K UHD from the Consumer Technology Association (CTA). Delhi Metro launches free in-train Wi-Fi facility on Airport Express Line
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has launched Free Wi-Fi facilities in train coaches on its Airport Express Line, the first such facility in any country in the South Asian region. Delhi Metro launched ‘High speed Free Wi-Fi’ facility at Metro stations back in 2017. The DMRC plans to extend the facility to Lines 1-6 in the future. It currently provides Wi-Fi facility at platforms of many of its major stations, including those on yellow and blue lines. With the facility, passengers will be able to access high speed free Wi-Fi on the moving train by simply logging onto the network with the name "METROWIFI_FREE”. Just enter your phone number if asked, and get your OTP to enjoy high-speed internet access throughout the journey. The 22.7 kilometer long corridor comprising six stations is continuously registering a steady increase in ridership, said DMRC.
