Motorola One Hyper with 6.5-inch FHD+ Total Vision display, Android 10, 64MP rear camera, 32MP pop-up front camera announced

Motorola just announced One Hyper, the company's latest One series smartphones with a pop-up camera design, as it had promised. It has a 6.5-inch Full HD+ 19:9 aspect ratio LCD screen without a notch, which it calls Total Vision, is powered by Snapdragon 675 with 4GB of RAM and runs Android 10 out of the box. It packs a 64-megapixel main camera with Night Vision and Quad Pixel technologies, laser auto focus technology to focus instantly, even in the dark and an 8-megapixel 118° ultra-wide angle lens. With Google CameraX API, third party apps like Instagram can take advantage of Motorola’s camera AI technology, like HDR, Night Vision and Portrait Mode, said the company. There is a 32-megapixel pop-up selfie camera with the same Night Vision mode and Quad Pixel technology that brings in 4x more light sensitivity. The pop up camera has a drop protection mechanism that triggers it to automatically retract during a sudden drop or when the phone is flipped upside down. It has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner with a helpful notification light around it that subtly illuminates in different ways to keep you updated without disturbing you. Reliance Jio revises ‘New All-in-one plans’ with 1.5GB data per day and 1000 off-net IUC minutes starting at Rs. 199

Earlier this week, Airtel and Vodafone Idea hiked prepaid tariff and released new recharge plans. Following Reliance Jio's announcement regarding tariff hike recently, the company has now officially launched the 'New All-in-one plans' with revised pricing along with JioPrime benefits. Similar to Airtel and Vodafone Idea, Fair Usage Policy applies on unlimited calling from Jio to other networks, and users will be charged 6 paise/min post FUP. Users won’t be charged 6 paise/min for Jio to Jio calls. Jio's revised plans are categorized into 1-month, 2-month, 3-month, 12-month, and "Affordable plans". Lenovo launches 7-inch Smart Display, Smart Bulb and Smart Camera in India

Lenovo has been expanding its lineup of Smart Home products in India with the launch of Smart Clock and 10-inch Smart Display earlier this year. Following that, now Lenovo has launched a new 7-inch Smart Display, Smart Bulb, and Smart Camera in India. Lenovo Smart Display comes with a 7-inch display with always-on functionality. It has support for Google Assistant and users can control over 5,000 smart home devices from major brands, answer video calls from family, monitor the kids’ room, or check who’s at the door through any smart camera connected with the display. It also has dual-array microphones and a full-range speaker letting users interact with the Smart Display seamlessly. The next product in today's announcement, Lenovo Smart Camera comes with a wide field of view, can record in FULL HD 1920 x 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second and supports H.264/MJPEG format compression. Sundar Pichai takes on Alphabet’s CEO role as Larry Page steps down

Sundar Pichai, the current CEO of Google has now taken up the role of CEO of Google's parent company — Alphabet. Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who were the previous CEO and President respectively at Alphabet, will be stepping down but will remain in the board of directors. In a letter, Larry Page and Sergey Brin explained their decision to step down. They talk about how they believe Alphabet to have reached a point in time where it does not need both a CEO and a president. To simplify management structure for Alphabet and Google, Sundar Pichai will take CEO roles at both companies, being the chief executive at leading Google, and managing Alphabet’s investment in their portfolio of Other Bets. Alphabet was founded in 2015, designed to be a parent company to Google and other companies such as Nest, Fiber, Malta and others, with Larry Page and Sergey Brin leading the company. Samsung Galaxy A 2020 series to be announced on December 12, Galaxy A51 with punch-hole display and more expected

Samsung has scheduled an event in Vietnam on December 12th to introduce its Galaxy A Series 2020 edition of smartphones. The teaser shows a punch-hole display, as rumored earlier for the A51 and A71 smartphones. Even though the teaser doesn't confirm the name of the phone, but the source on the Samsung Vietnam landing page for the teaser mentions A51 and also SM-A515F, which is the product code for the phone. Samsung says that this will be a camera-centric phone similar to earlier Galaxy A series. Based on earlier rumors, the A51 is said to pack a quad-rear camera setup with a 48MP (primary) + 12MP (wide-angle) + 12MP (telephoto) sensor for 2x optical zoom + 5MP (depth sensor), while the A71 is said to include a ToF sensor instead of the depth sensor. Indian Government could hold 4G and 5G spectrum auction in Q2 2020

Government is getting ready to conduct a new spectrum auction in April/June next year for 4G and 5G bands, according to the latest ET report. With new tariffs announced from the three major operators and 2-year temporary prohibition on spectrum payments, the government is confident that the operators will participate in the sale. News that is alarming to the  operators is the rumoured price for the frequency bands. The suggested base price for 5G airwaves is Rs. 492 crores per MHz with a proposed minimum sale of 20MHz blocks. This calculates to operators spending a minimum of close to Rs. 10,000 crore for 20 MHz and almost Rs. 50,000 crore for 100 MHz. The government plans to sell a total of 8,293.95 MHz of 4G and 5G spectrum, which can fetch the government about Rs. 5.86 lakh crore, if all of it is sold at base price. It has also been confirmed that they will sell this all in one go and not in pieces. A lot of spectrum contracts of the major telcos are expiring in the next two years which will mean that there will be a lot more auctions coming soon. Source

Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max is the world’s largest fingerprint sensor with simultaneous two-finger sensing

At the Qualcomm Tech Summit 2019 Day 1, the company's also introduced 3D Sonic Max, which it says it the world’s largest fingerprint sensor, making it 17 times larger than the previous generation eliminating the need to carefully align your finger with the sensor area. Two years ago it was a 4x9 sensor, now it's a 20x30 sensor, which makes simultaneous two-finger sensing possible offering better security, increased speed and ease of use, compared to previous sensors. On top of that, 3D Sonic Max promises to deliver 1::1,000,000 rather than 1::50,000 in the previous generation to prevent fingerprint spoofing and inaccurate results. The new Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max in-display fingerprint scanner is suitable for automotive as well as smartphones. Samsung could be one of the OEMs to use this in their next-gen flagships, which will likely be the Snapdragon S11 series.  We should know more details about the scanner in the coming days of the Qualcomm Snapdragon Tech Summit.
