Apple iPhone with Face ID and in-screen Touch ID said to launch in 2021

Apple removed Touch ID fingerprint authentication in favor of Face ID 3D facial recognition technology on iPhone X back in 2017, and it didn't make a come back in last year's iPhone XS series. Now, according to a new note from Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will introduce an iPhone equipped with both Face ID and in-screen fingerprint sensor in 2021. It is said to use Qualcomm's ultrasonic fingerprint scanner with large fingerprint sensing area that is being used in most smartphones. He added that technical issues of in-display fingerprint sensors will improve in 12 to 18 months, including module thickness, sensing area, power consumption, and lamination yield rate. Recently rumors revealed that Apple will bring 5G support to all the iPhone models next year, and two of those iPhones are expected to feature time-of-flight sensors. Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple analyst said: In terms of technology, we predict that four critical technical issues of FOD will significantly improve in 12–18 months, including module thickness, sensing area, power consumption, and lamination yield rate. Therefore, we believe that Apple will launch the new iPhone equipped with both Face ID and FOD to enhance security and convenience thanks to the multi-biometrics. Source

Xiaomi will reveal ‘future of imaging technology’ on August 7, Redmi 64MP Quad camera tech expected

After Realme announced its 'Camera Innovation Event' in India on August 8th to reveal details about 64MP Quad Camera tech on a smartphone, Xiaomi today announced an event on August 7th in China to reveal the future of imaging technology. This will likely be the company's 64MP camera technology that it confirmed last month. It is also expected to announce new imaging laboratory of Xiaomi and Meitu. Xiaomi is expected to combine some exclusive patents of Meitu in its AI imaging technology. The company already confirmed that the 64MP phone will have quad rear cameras, and a single 64MP image will have 20MB file size offering better resolution to that of an 8K TV. This will likely use Samsung's 64MP ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor that uses Pixel-merging Tetracell technology and the remosaic algorithm offers 16MP images in low-light environments where four pixels are merged to work as one to increase light sensitivity and highly-detailed 64Mp shots in brighter settings. It also supports real-time high dynamic range (HDR) of up to 100-decibels (dB) that provides richer hues. We should know more details about this new camera technology on Wednesday. Source
