Nokia WiFi Beacon 1 mesh WiFi system with pre-pairing, intelligent channel selection feature announced

Nokia has announced its new Nokia Wi-Fi Beacon 1 whole-home mesh Wi-FI system along with other new features to its whole-home Wi-Fi portfolio. The Beacon 1 joins the Nokia Beacon 3 premium mesh Wi-Fi solution along with a range of new features. Nokia Wi-Fi Beacon 1 whole-home mesh Wi-Fi system is an entry-level product and is an AC1200 system which covers approximately 1500 square feet (140 sq. m) per Beacon. The Beacon 1 comes with a range of new features which includes pre-pairing, intelligent channel selection, bride mode function, the company's mesh Wi-Fi technology and more. The pre-pairing is a software enhancement from Nokia that eliminates the need to install each beacon individually by pre-configuring beacons sold in 2-pack and 3-pack configurations. Upon installing the first Nokia beacon, the other beacons automatically recognize each other and self-install. There is also a Bridge mode function that allows users to quickly connect a beacon to an existing gateway with routing functionality. The Intelligent Channel Selection feature, on the other hand, detects both Wi-Fi and non-WiFi interference and uses Intelligent Channel Selection to always choose the best WiFi channel and band. HONOR has today launched a new smartphone named HONOR Play 8 in its Play series of smartphones and this joins the earlier launched HONOR Play 8A smartphone. HONOR Play 8 smartphone sports a 5.71-display, supports 4G VoLTE, runs Android 9 Pie on top of EMUI 9.0 and more. Xiaomi Mi TV 4A 32-inch and 43-inch (2018) Android 9.0 (Pie) early access program registrations open

Xiaomi launched Mi TV 4A 32-inch HD ready and 43-inch Full HD models last year running Patchwall based on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). These TVs didn't get any updates, even months after the company released new Android TV models running Android Oreo-based Patchwall. Today the company has started early access program to offer Android 9.0 (Pie) Android TV update directly to these users, skipping Android Oreo. Xiaomi also adds that it is the first TV brand in the country to roll out Android 9 update for its Mi TVs. The company said that it took time since it was working on new products and continue R&D efforts. This also involves risk of bricking when updating ROM based on Android 6.0 to the latest one, if electricity goes off during update process. Also the company added that Amlogic chip needed extended engineering work to support new Android TV images which are 7 or above. This also includes Android TV adding Play Store, built-in Chromecast support and Google Assistant, but Google Assistant won't work directly on these Mi TV 4A series TVs as these TVs don't support BLE and hence no voice remote support directly, but you can use your Android phones or Google Home devices to play movies etc ...

Amazfit GTR smartwatch with 24 days of battery life to be announced on July 16

Huami has announced that it will introduce a new Amazfit product in China on July 16th. The teaser shows 'Time for the Grand Tour Racing', which should be a smartwatch. Some reports say that it should be Amazfit GTR smartwatch. The company says that it will offer up to 24 days of battery life on a single charge and made of stainless steel, ceramic and aluminum. HUAWEI Watch GT that was introduced recently promises up to two weeks or 14 days of battery life with a 420mAh battery. The company did not confirm any other features of the smartwatch, but it should be premium smartwatch, possibly with an AMOLED screen, support for multi-sport tracking, water-resistant body and a heart rate semspr. The company introduced its Smart Watch 2 with Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2500, so the new GTR smartwatch could be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 SoC that promises improved battery life.
