PayPal One Touch powered by Google Smart Lock launched for friction-less payments experience

PayPal India, today, launched its OneTouch experience in India using Google Smart Lock thereby removing the hassle of repeatedly needing to log in. With One Touch, consumers will no longer have to retrieve their credit and debit card details to make purchases on their smartphones. Having said that, this allows Indian consumers to register their Android device with PayPal and enables them to stay logged into the platform for all subsequent PayPal purchases on that device. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnDLl1MtU3w However, consumers once logged in will still need to go through the 2FA step to complete the transaction as per applicable regulations. Notably, India will be the first market where the feature will be integrated with Google Smart Lock. Additionally, PayPal’s Buyer Protection feature will provide another layer of safety to this feature for eligible transactions. If items purchased online do not match the description of the product that was sold to the consumer, PayPal’s Buyer Protection feature enables them to claim a refund for eligible transactions. Vivo Z3x with 6.26-inch FHD+ display, Snapdragon 660, dual rear cameras, Android Pie announced

Vivo has silently introduced a new smartphone named Vivo Z3x in China today. The smartphone is almost similar to Vivo Z1 smartphone that was launched last year.   Vivo Z3x flaunts a 6.26-inch 19:9 FULL HD+ TFT display with a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels.  Under the hood, it is powered by the Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Mobile Platform along with 4GB RAM. There is 64GB of internal storage and it can be expanded via MicroSD up to 256GB. It features a metal and glass design, fingerprint sensor on the back and packs a 3260mAh battery. Worldwide smartphone shipments decline 6.6% YoY in Q1 2019, HUAWEI posts 50.3% growth, Apple shipments down 30.2%: IDC

As the companies have posted their earnings, International Data Corporation (IDC) has announced that smartphone vendors have shipped 310.8 million units in Q1 2019, down 6.6% compared to the same quarter last year, and this also marks sixth consecutive quarter of decline. Samsung still retains the top spot with 71.9 million shipments, but it is down 8.1% from 78.2 million in Q1 2018. HUAWEI has posted 50.3% growth and climbs to the second spot with 59.1 million shipments, while Apple has been pushed to the third spot since it has managed to achieve just 36.4 million shipments, down 30.2% YoY. Xiaomi has also experienced decline in the quarter with 25 million shipments, down 10.2% YoY. Vivo and OPPO grab the fifth spot with 23.2 million  and 23.1 million shipments, respectively. Vivo has posted 24% growth, with India continues to be its most important market outside of China, but OPPO has seen a 6% decline YoY. Source

iPhone price corrections delivering ‘better results’ in India, expanding manufacturing capability: Apple CEO

During the FY Q2 2019 earnings call Apple CEO Tim Cook when answering questions talked about recent iPhone price adjustments in India, expanding local manufacturing and also about its retail store plans. He said that after the price adjustments for iPhone XR in India, Apple has seen preliminarily some better results. "Everything that we do, does advise everything we do in the future, so we try to learn the best we can and fold that into our thinking. And we'll obviously do that with this as well," he added. Regarding the expansion of local manufacturing earlier this year, opening retail stores, which has been in the news for the past few years, and Android being dominated in India, he said: I think India is a very important market in the long-term. Apple reports $11.56 billion profit on $58 billion revenue in FY Q2 2019, iPhone revenue down 17% YoY

Apple has reported quarterly revenue of $58 billion, down 5% over last year with a net profit of $11.6 billion, down 15.94% YoY and earnings per diluted share of $2.46 for the financial year Q2 2019 that ended March 30, 2019. During earnings call Tim Cook said "For iPhone, while our worldwide revenue was down 17% from a year ago, declines were significantly smaller in the final weeks of the March quarter." 31.1 billion iPhone revenue, down 17% YoY.  Year-over-year performance improved relative to December quarter results in Greater China, in the Americas and in Japan.
