Google Chrome 73 for desktops rolling out, brings Dark Mode and PWA for Mac, support for keyboard multimedia keys and more

Google has released stable Chome 73 update for desktops that brings Dark Mode for macOS. If you have enabled dark mode in macOS 10.14, then it will automatially be applied to Chrome, or  you can set Chrome browser in a permanent dark mode. Windows support is on the way, says Google. The update also adds support for Progressive Web Apps for Mac for the first time, bringing support for PWAs to all desktop and mobile platforms, making it easy to create installable apps, delivered through the web. Chrome 73 adds support for the multimedia keys on keyboard to control playback for media files. This includes play, pause, previous, next, seek backward, and seek forward. Multimedia keys is available for Chrome on Chrome OS, macOS, and Windows, and sometime later for Linux. Starting from Chrome 73, Google will automatically block file downloads initiated from within a sandboxed iframes. This allows content providers to restrict malicious or abusive downloads. Most of the new features that are available with Chrome 73 are mostly developer centric updates and additions to Chrome's arsenal of Web APIs. Source 1, 2

Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro might get Dual VoLTE update with Android Pie update

Xiaomi launched the Redmi 6 Pro in India back in September 2018 running MIUI 9 on top of Android 8.1 (Oreo) and later in December, it was updated to MIUI 10 which was also based on Android 8.1. Last month it started recruiting Beta testers for testing Android Pie based MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM for various devices including Redmi 6 Pro and Redmi Y2. Android Pie based MIUI Global Beta testing for the device has already started and Android 9.0 (Pie) based MIUI Global Beta ROM is expected to be released in coming weeks for all users (currently it is available for Beta testers only). Microsoft Windows 10 latest Insider Preview Build lets you mirror your Android apps on PC

Last year, Microsoft launched the "Your Phone" feature in an attempt to help further tie Android or iOS smartphone to your PC. Right now, the Redmond giant is running a beta of a new screen mirroring feature that allows Android apps to be run on a Windows 10 PC. Dubbed as phone screen, users can now mirror your Android phone’s screen directly on your PC without having to dig for your phone. The new phone screen feature gives you easy access to your phone apps on your PC. This new feature will be gradually rolled out to Insiders on 19H1 builds. According to the blog, the new phone screen feature is initially only compatible with a limited set of devices. It’s currently only available on Samsung’s Galaxy S8, S8 Plus, S9, and S9 Plus. Furthermore, your PC needs to support Bluetooth with Low Energy Peripheral mode for the feature to work. Notably, Surface Go will be the first device in the Surface lineup to preview this feature. Xiaomi has finally released the list of smartphones eligible for Android Pie/Oreo update, these devices are supposed to get Android Pie/Oreo update sometime before Q2 2019. Xiaomi has mentioned that the smartphones which have already received two major Android updates are unlikely to receive further Android updates. The list of smartphones eligible to receive Android update includes both Mi and Redmi range of smartphones. Google Drive Material redesign arrives for iOS and Android to match its look on the web

Google is slowly but steadily revamping all its apps to suit the new Material Theme. In the recent development, the search engine giant is working a new look and feel on Google Drive for iOS and Android, making it easier to communicate and collaborate across files in Drive on mobile devices. Google rolls out Chrome Lite Data Saver to speed up HTTPS web pages on slow connections

Loading a webpage during over poor connection can be frustrating, regardless of the situation. In this regard, Google is offering Data Saver feature that lets Chrome reduce data usage by up to 90 percent and load pages two times faster in HTTPS pages, in addition to HTTP. When the page is optimised, the Chrome will display the Lite version of the page in the URL. Users can tap the indicator to see more information and to access an option to load the original version of the page. "Now, we are securely extending performance improvements beyond HTTP pages to HTTPS pages and providing direct feedback to the developers who want it." Having said that, Chrome automatically disables Lite pages on a per-site or per-user basis when it detects that users frequently opt to load the original page. In the blog post, Google says, "We use built-in optimizations and Google servers to improve page loading. When Chrome optimizes an HTTPS page, only the URL is shared with Google; other information – cookies, login information, and personalized page content – is not shared with Google." Xiaomi has introduced Mi Router 4A in China. It is the upgraded version of Mi Router 3C that was introduced couple of years back. It comes with both the 2.4GHz band(300Mbps) and 5GHz band(867Mbps) and feature four omni directional antennas.  It also comes in Gigabit Edition has 1GBps LAN speeds, thanks to faster processor, lets you connect up to 128 devices simultaneously with more RAM and offers better heat dissipation with alumunium base with several holes. Google teases its ‘vision for the future of gaming’ will be unveiled at GDC 2019 event on March 19

Google already confirmed that it will hold an Gaming related event on March 19 at GDC 2019. Today it has posted a teaser on its social channels. It also says that it will unveil its vision for the future of gaming, and the poster says 'Discover a new way to play'.  The video teaser shows various arenas and staging points such as generic stadium, concert stage, race garage, airborne jump, and spaceship hangar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJclcGp8K_4 Google is expected to introduce subscription-based game streaming service that would work with its existing hardware or a Google-designed gaming console. The project is codenamed ‘Yeti’. Google, back in October 2018, announced Project Stream, a gaming streaming service with a technical test of “Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.” A gaming controller patent surfaced earlier this week that includes a  microphone button hinting at compatibility with Google Assistant. The event is set for March 19, 10 AM PDT (10:30 PM IST) and as usual, it will offer live stream on YouTube.

Xiaomi Mi LED Smart TV 4 Pro 55-inch 4K TV gets a price cut in India

Xiaomi has announced a price cut of Rs. 2000 for its Mi TV 4 Pro 55-inch 4K HDR with Android TV in India, in about five months after the launch at a price of Rs. 49,999. This comes on the same day of the launch launch of Samsung's exclusively 4K TVs in the country. The company reduced the price of its Mi LED Smart TV 4A 32", Mi LED TV 4C PRO 32" and Mi LED TV 4A PRO 49" in India back in January due to reduction of GST by the government on TVs up to 32 inches from 28% to 18% and recent dollar moderation. The Mi LED TV 4 PRO 55" is now available at Rs. 47,999 on Flipkart, Amazon, Mi.com and Mi Home Stores offline.

YouTube has finally launched YouTube Music streaming service in India, after it was announced back in May last year. Google launched its Play Music service in India back in 2016.
