Google Docs gets AI-based grammar correction
Google introduced spell check in Google Docs seven years ago, and now it has announced that it will be using machine translation techniques for grammatical errors, with grammar suggestions in Docs. G Suite Basic, Business and Enterprise customers will start to see inline, contextual grammar suggestions in their documents as they type, just like spellcheck. If you’ve made a grammar mistake, a squiggly blue line will appear under the phrase as you write it. You can choose to accept the suggestion by right-clicking it. Since this feature is built right into in Docs, you don’t have to rely on third-party apps to do the work. Because grammar is typically harder to tackle, Google is using machine translation to build a model that can incorporate the complexity and nuances of grammar correction. Using machine translation, Google will be able to recognize errors and suggest corrections as work is getting done. The company worked closely with linguists to decipher the rules for the machine translation model and used this as the foundation of automatic suggestions in Docs, all powered by AI. By doing this, machine translation techniques can catch a range of different corrections, from simple grammatical rules to more complex grammatical concepts. Source
Samsung starts mass production of 512GB eUFS 3.0 with 2100 MB/s speeds for smartphones
Samsung Electronics has announced that it has begun mass production of the industry’s first 512GB embedded Universal Flash Storage (eUFS) 3.0 for next-generation mobile devices. In line with the latest eUFS 3.0 specification, the new Samsung memory delivers twice the speed of the previous eUFS storage (eUFS 2.1). Samsung’s 512GB eUFS 3.0 packs eight of the company’s 5th-gen 512-gigabit (Gb) V-NAND die and integrates a high-performance controller. At 2,100 MB/s, the new eUFS doubles the sequential read rate of Samsung’s latest eUFS memory (eUFS 2.1). Samsung says the new solution’s read speed is four times faster than that of a SATA solid state drive (SSDs) and 20 times faster than a typical microSD card. In addition, the sequential write speed also has been improved by 50 percent to 410MB/s, which is equivalent to that of a SATA SSD. The new memory’s random read and write speeds are at 63,000 and 68,000 Input/Output Operations Per Second (IOPS), respectively. With the significant gains in random read and writes that are more than 630 times faster than general microSD cards (100 IOPS), a number of complex applications can be simultaneously run, while achieving enhanced responsiveness, especially on the newest generation of mobile devices. Apart from 512GB ...
OnePlus confirms OnePlus 7 won’t feature wireless charging
OnePlus is working on its next flagship which is likely to be called the OnePlus 7. The flagship will be powered by the Snapdragon 855, feature upgraded camera, latest software and more, but one thing that looks uncertain is the wireless charging. OnePlus fans for a while now are rooting for the wireless charging, given how the back panel on OnePlus 6 and 6T is glass. According to CEO Pete Lau, the company still doesn't think it's worth adding to its products."OnePlus charging is one of the best. Wireless charging is far inferior." Even though OnePlus phones usually pack flagship level hardware features, wireless charging somehow is missing from the action. Samsung stepped up the wireless charging game by adding the ability to wirelessly charge its Galaxy Buds with its Galaxy S10. At the MWC 2019 show, OnePlus has showcased the prototype of its 5G smartphone which will come to two carriers in Europe in the second quarter. Lau declined to comment on the OnePlus 7, as well as the rumors surrounding the pop-up camera. Lau notes that it takes a long time to charge a device with a wireless pad. With the physical quick charge plug, OnePlus says, you can get ...
