OPPO smartphone with 10x Lossless Zoom Camera coming in Q2 2019

OPPO teased the 10x hybrid optical zoom camera technology at an event in China. As promised, the company has revealed more details about the technology. We already know that the 10x lossless zoom camera tech uses three-camera solution that includes a Super Wide Angle, Ultra Clear main sensor and a Telephoto lens. Today the company has confirmed that the main camera uses a 48-megapixel sensor, a 120 degree ultra-wide lens with equivalent focal length of 15.9mm, which provides wide-angle shots and the telephoto camera offers 159mm equivalent focal length. With all 3 lenses, the phone can cover broad focal lengths of 16mm-160mm which make up 10x Lossless Zoom. It uses periscopic module that is structured in a horizontal organization. This reduces the thickness of the lens, resulting in a camera module only 6.76mm thick, almost the same as an OPPO R17. OPPO has used 'D-cut' optical lens. It looks just like making two parallel cuts on a circular lens, this design further reduces thickness of the telephoto lens module while keeping the optimal performance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvcTqIIAh9M OPPO has also placed two AF motors - for the main camera and wide-angle lens - in the same module, saving 13% of space, so that a larger sensor ...

Several apps reportedly share sensitive personal information with Facebook

According to a latest report from The Wall Street Journal, Facebook is receiving highly personal information from apps that track your health and help you find a new home. Facebook can receive this data from certain apps even if the user does not have a Facebook account.  Recently, a report suggested that Facebook has paid teenage users to install an app that would allow the company to collect all phone and web activity. This made Apple revoke some developer privileges from Facebook, saying Facebook has violated its terms by distributing the app through a program meant only for employees to test apps prior to release. However, the new report says that Facebook is able to receive data from over 70 popular apps and found at least 11 apps sending potentially sensitive information to Facebook. The apps included the period-tracking app Flo Period & Ovulation Tracker, which reportedly shared with Facebook when users were having their periods or when they indicated they were trying to get pregnant. Real estate app Realtor reportedly sent Facebook the listing information viewed by users, and the top heart-rate app on Apple's iOS, Instant Heart Rate: HR Monitor, sent users' heart rates to the company, the Journal's testing found. The apps ...

Jio Group Talk conference calling app released for Android

Reliance Jio has introduced new Jio Group Talk conference calling app for Android. This app allows users to make group conference calls over VoLTE with up to ten users at once. It comes with features like lecture mode where you can mute other users and have them listen to you.  However, the app is still in trial-mode and a commercial version for the public is expected soon. It supports HD voice calling and is available to only those who are using Reliance Jio SIM on their phone. Once you download the app from Google Play, you will need to sign in using their Jio number and enter an OTP that is sent for verification. Since it is a Jio SIM, the device should support VoLTE, and the SMS and calling facility is turned on. There is even an option to schedule a conference call as well and will allow you to call up to ten participants in one go. The caller can add or remove participants from the conference call, mute participants. You can also an international number to a Jio Group Talk conference call. At the moment, only voice calling is supported, but video calling and chatting features should be available soon. Intel confirms its 5G modem chips won’t release commercially until 2020

Intel Corp executives have clarified that the company's 5G model chips will not be available in mobile phones until 2020. This suggests that Apple will be more than a year behind compared to Samsung, Huawei, and others in launching iPhones with 5G connectivity.  Sandra Rivera, who oversees Intel’s networking chip business, said at a media event in California, that sample 5G modem chips will ship to customers this year, but the company does not expect consumer “products in the market” until 2020. Though Intel said that its 5G modem chips will be available later this year, it never indicated when it would arrive for consumers. Rivera said non-consumer 5G products, such as networking gear, will appear later this year. Since many rumors in the past pointed at iPhones with 5G would not launch until 2020, this new announcement from Intel only strengthens the claims. Apple executives have held talks with Samsung Electronics Co Ltd and MediaTek Inc over 5G modem chips for iPhones to be released this year, but the outcome of those talks is currently unknown. It is also reported that Apple earlier this year moved its modem engineering efforts into the same division that makes its proprietary processor chips. Intel also mentioned ...

Huawei Mate X foldable 5G phone banner surfaces ahead of February 24 MWC announcement

Up until now it is more or less confirmed that Huawei is all set to introduce its first foldable phone at the MWC 2019 event. However, a leaked banner image now confirms the launch and also provides us the name and an early sneak peek at the design. The Huawei's foldable phone will be called Mate X and the company's says that it will be the world's first phone with 5G. A banner on display at MWC 2019 has given us our first sneak peek at the Huawei Mate X. The device folds with the screen outwards instead of in. That means there’s only one display on the Mate X rather than the two that Samsung has opted for. At this moment, there's still a whole lot we don't know about the Mate X including the specifications, pricing and the availability. Huawei is set to host a press conference on February 24th to unveil a slew of new products including its first foldable phone with 5G. It looks like the Huawei's Mate X foldable phone will sit flush with the rest of the device when closed. Either way, with just one day for the launch, we don't have to wait much longer, stay tuned.
