Swiggy said to be in final stages of negotiations to acquire Uber Eats India

In a surprising move, Uber Eats, the food delivery arm of the global ride-hailing platform, is said to be in final stages of negotiations to sell its India business to rival Swiggy, according to a latest report. The deal is expected to close as soon as next month. This will be Swiggy's largest acquisition to date and Uber's first divestment of its food business globally. The transaction is likely to be a share swap, giving Uber around 10% stake in Swiggy which is last valued at $3.3 billion. The move is in-line with Uber's global strategy to cut down on losses as it prepares for a possible $120 billion public offering. Uber Eats is estimated to be valued at over $20 billion. The business generated $1.5 billion in revenue globally in the first quarter of 2018, according to the Information. Both Swiggy and Zomato have been raising capital since last year or so as they aim to acquire new customers. Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro with 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor, Snapdragon 675 to be announced next week

At the Redmi Note 7 launch event last month Xiaomi confirmed that it will launch the Redmi Note 7 Pro soon with Sony IMX586 sensor replacing the Samsung ISOCELL Bright GM1 sensor on the Redmi Note 7. Recent reports revealed that it will be powered by Snapdragon 675, compared to Snapdragon 660 on the Redmi Note 7. Today Redmi President Lu Weibing has confirmed that the Redmi Note 7 Pro will be announced next week without mentioning the exact date. It is not clear if this will be launched in India as well along with the Redmi Note 7 on February 28th. New SoC and camera sensor might bump up the price of the smartphone slightly. Indian brand CENTRiC to launch S1 pop-up camera phone, G5, G3, A2 and L4 smartphone at MWC 2019

It has been almost an year since the Indian smartphone manufacturer CENTRiC launched a smartphone. Today the company has announced that it will introduce its flagship pop-up selfie camera smartphone S1 at MWC on 25th February. The company says that it is the first Indian smartphone brand to come-up with this feature, and the smartphone will go on sale in 2-3 months. Along with a pop-up selfie camera smartphone, the brand will also launch 4 more smartphones - G5, G3, A2 and L4 across different price categories with the target demographic being the youth and first-time smartphone buyers at the MWC. Xiaomi opens Android Pie Global Beta testing registration for Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi Note 6 Pro and Redmi S2

Update - February 20, 2019: Xiaomi has opened registrations for global beta testing of Android Pie for Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi Note 6 Pro and Redmi S2 (Y2) smartphones on its forum. Registration is open till March 15th (Beijing Time) and ROM will roll out staring March 19th so we can expect open beta starting March-end or early April. Earlier: Xiaomi has a good reputation when it comes to providing software (MIUI) support to devices, but the story changes when it comes to providing Android updates. Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 India launch event entry registrations open again, attendees get special gift voucher worth Rs. 1500

Last week Xiaomi confirmed that it will launch the  Redmi Note 7 smartphone in India on February 28th, even Flipkart has started teasing the phone. It opened registrations to buy tickets for the event on the same day, but it sold out quickly. Today it has opened the 2nd round of registrations on mi.com. The ticket costs Rs. 480, and the company says that it will offer goodies worth Rs. 1500 for all the attendees. After registration is complete, those who are eligible to get a ticket based on top Mi Community contribution based on points/user groups will get an email & SMS with a link to purchase the ticket on 23rd February. Venue details will be shared with the ones who have purchased a ticket, and the company will not offer travel/lodging arrangements.
