Samsung SM-P205 tablet with Exynos 7885 SoC, 3GB RAM, Android 9.0 Pie surfaces in benchmarks

Samsung back in December is reportedly working on a new Galaxy tablet with model number SM-P205. However, we haven’t heard much about the device, but to fill the void, alleged specifications of this tablet have surfaced online in a Geekbench listing, thought might not be the most credible source.  According to the information on Geekbench, the tablet is powered an Exynos 7885 SoC, with 3 GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage. It runs on Android Pie 9.0 and comes in black and grey color options to the mix from our previous report. It scored 1329 in single-core and 4150 multi-core tests, on par with the other Exynos 7885 scores on Geekbench. Another giveaway about the tablet is the inclusion of the letter 'P' in the model number. Surprisingly, the model number SM-P205 doesn’t align with any of the existing Galaxy tablets, this makes it difficult to understand the company's plans to position this device. Since the firmware development has begun months ago and the tablet is now making the appearance on benchmark websites, so the launch might be not too far. Having said that, not much is leaked about the device so far, it seems unlikely the device will make an appearance at the Galaxy S10 Unpacked event ...

Google Gboard for iOS gets haptic feedback on iPhone 7 and later

Google Keyboard for iOS is finally getting haptics keyboard owing to the presence of a Taptic engine in iOS flagships since 2016. However, even the default keyboard does not support haptic feedback, but the latest Gboard update comes with support for haptics on every key press. Gboard V1.40 for iOS adds a new “Enable haptic feedback on keypress” option in the Keyboard settings menu. When turned on, every tap in the Google keyboard is accompanied by a brief vibration, this includes when accessing Search, YouTube, Google Maps, or contacts from the suggestions row above the keyboard. The haptic feedback is available on iPhone 7 and later phones. The haptic feedback provides a guarantee that a tap was registered by the device. It is especially useful when using the swipe keyboard, with feedback present as users start and finish swiping. Haptic feedback on Gboard when typing on Android, lets users customize the vibration strength. The default iOS keyboard does not feature haptics, while third-party apps like Microsoft-owned SwitfKey only offer “limited Haptic Feedback” when long-pressing and opening the emoji panel. Apart from the haptic feedback, the latest update also adds language support for Lao and Mongolian and optimizes Gboard assets to reduce app size. You can download the Gboard app ...

MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM brings Dark Mode to some system apps

Colors displayed on the screen affect the power consumption of the display and this is where dark mode helps on AMOLED devices. In last few months, Google gradually rolled out dark mode for some system apps including Phone, Contacts, Messages and as per some reports, Google is all set to introduce the system-wide dark mode with Android Q. Dark mode doesn't help in saving much battery on the budget devices as budget devices lack AMOLED panels, but some users still prefer it. [gallery link="file" size="large" ids="275164,275147,275162"] Xiaomi's MIUI is best known for the customizations it offers but it also doesn't offer system-wide dark theme, dark themes can be downloaded from theme store but I am yet to find a fully functional, bugfree, polished dark theme despite trying many dark themes but it may change soon as Xiaomi's latest MIUI 10 Global Beta update brings dark theme to many system apps including Phone, Contacts, Messaging, Gallery, Calculator, Notes, Screen Recorder, and Updater. [gallery link="file" size="large" ids="275161,275160,275158"] The update also brings dark mode to Notification shade, Volume sliders, and Recents menu.
