US regulators said to impose a record-setting fine against Facebook for privacy violations
According to a new report from WSJ, U. S regulators have met to discuss imposing a record-setting fine against Facebook for violating a legally binding agreement with the government to protect the privacy of its users' personal data. The fine under consideration at the Federal Trade Commission would mark the first action levied against Facebook in the United States since reports emerged in March about the Cambridge Analytica. The penalty is expected to be much larger than the $22.5 million fine the agency imposed on Google in 2012. The FTC’s exact findings in its Facebook investigation and the total amount of the fine, which the agency’s five commissioners have discussed at a private meeting in recent weeks, have not been finalized. The staff has briefed the commissioners about their probe, according to sources, and plan to issue a formal recommendation for a fine soon. Furthermore, it is also reported that Facebook has talked with FTC staffers about the investigation, but it is unclear whether the company would settle with the FTC by accepting a significant financial penalty. The agreement requires Facebook to notify users, and seek their permission before data is shared with third parties in a way that differs from existing privacy settings. ...

The product is divided into categories like “For You,” “Animals,” “Fails,” “Pranks” and more with content pulled from News Feed posts by top meme Pages on Facebook. LOL is currently in private beta with around 100 high school students who signed non-disclosure agreements for one-on-one testing with Facebook staff. The company confirmed the existence of LOL, however, Facebook says there are no plans to roll out LOL in Watch and the team is still finalizing whether it be a separate feature in one of Facebook’s main app or releases it as a standalone app. Since it is still in the early phase of testing, the app is still not fully developed. The content found in LOL is sometimes weeks old, so those who follow memes may have seen it before. In the latest version of the app, users have been greeted with a carousel of themed collections called “Dailies” like “Look Mom No Hands” in a design reminiscent of Snapchat’s Discover section. Microsoft to end support for Windows 10 Mobile in December
Microsoft has announced that it will end support for Windows 10 Mobile devices on December, falling in-line with company's announcement in 2017 when it revealed that won’t be developing new features or hardware for Windows 10 Mobile. However, the company continued to offer security and software updates. The company will continue offering security updates till December 10th 2019 for the devices running Windows 10 Mobile. "Windows 10 Mobile, version 1709 (released October 2017) is the last release of Windows 10 Mobile and Microsoft will end support on December 10, 2019," said the company. Microsoft is now recommending that Windows 10 Mobile users move to iOS or Android devices. After Microsoft pulls support in December, device backups for settings and some apps will continue for three months until March 10th, 2020. "Some services including photo uploads and restoring a device from an existing device backup may continue to work for up to another 12 months from the end of support," said Microsoft. Microsoft previously ended Windows Phone 8.1 support on July 11th, 2017, so the end of Windows 10 Mobile support is not surprising. Microsoft is currently focusing its energy on building apps and services for iOS and Android. Source | Via
